Like I said, the controls in the X-Wing games were about perfect - least with my joystick. It's pretty much the same control ideas as when you're in a starfighter in SWG.

Is it possible to code in the engine/shield/weapons management of the X-Wing series? I'm guessing no,, but I'll say it anyway).

Shield and Weapon power both had 3 levels. Bottom level was no power, 1st level was stable power level, 2nd was increasing power level. The more power you used, the slower your craft went. so, if you were running from a fight, you might set laser recharge to zero - you couldn't fire lasers, but you'd get a massive speed increase. The same with shields.

If you were in a heavy fight, you might set shields and lasers to full recharge, allowing you to fire almost constantly and have shields recharge quickly.

Ah... SWG Jump to Light Speed was fun too. I loved it how they merged RPG style skills with a fighter simulation. The imersion on MP Ships was great too: Running around fixing the ship, pilot and copilot had to work together for that little extra power and it never gets old sitting in a falcon's turret firing at Ties...sniff I miss my YT1500 "The flying Toaster"....

I don't really care about fancy  controls, I don't think the controls should be that complicated like shield/laser/speed managment. Simple overheating and max speed is good for me. The most complex thing i would like would be a second health bar for ships with sheilds that recharges unless it is totally destroyed. Also I think if there are any ships with missiles they should lock on not just shoot forward.


What would be cool with the aiming would be if you could change the point at which your lasers intersect on Xwings/Awings/Bwings/TieInterceptors  that way with a simple roll of the mouse wheel you could optimize your firing at long or short range. big_smile
