Re: Fighter Controls

I've been playing XvT/XvT:BoP Campaigns a lot these past few weeks. I feel so nostalgic. lol Classic. I LOVE those games.

TIE Fighter was the best one ever. By far.

Re: Fighter Controls

TIE Fighter was possibly one of the greatest flight sims of all time. I love the fact that you stay loyal to the Empire for the whole game - instead of the stereotypical "the Empire's evil" realization scene that forces you to defect.

Meanwhile, I point out that X-Wing had the original movie targeting computer, or a facsimile of it, as demo'd by the pics I posted earlier. The targeting computer used to hit the exhaust port (with the yellow grid walls and the timer) is, on the other hand, that little screen that comes down in front of them.

But I'd definitely like the accurate TIE computer. I've always disliked cockpits that are just pretty animation with no real use.

Oh, man. I wish I still had my old X-wing & T.I.E. Fighters games. *starts crying uncontrollably*

My old X-wing game destroyed when my Nikko remote control car's motor(magnet) was too close to game Disk. All the other Atari games destroyed too. That still bugs me a bit... sad

On-topic: I'd love to see a working targeting computer, and working deflector screens/shields. Maybe in some perfect world the devs could even make the targeting computer display simple wireframe models, like in the movie?

It'd probably cause more than a fair bit of lag, though, if the game was to suddenly show another set of models for the player whenever he turned the thing on or off sad . It'd be damned awesome, though.

I know what you mean. It would have been great if the targeting CPU was done correctly in past games. However, if the rumors are true that GL & ILM are completely revamping the sfx in the films for an "ultimate" edition, it could render the original targeting designs mute. Considering it is the 30th anniversary, I wouldn't be surprised if they have been working on an upgraded version of the original trilogy so it's on par with the prequals.

3D is something they've been fiddling with for sometime, and considering the latest report off of starwars.com, it looks likes coming to fruition.

As far as deflector shields go, I completely agree. They have never been done correctly in past Star Wars games (or how ion cannons affect them for that matter).

Re: Fighter Controls

They're re-releasing the X-Wing series (no changes) on March 16th. You can still find copies on ebay though/

Really??!! I haven't heard anything about that. Oh man, I hope your right. I'll have to look that up.

Regarding, myself obtaining them on ebay... I hate buying used products. Why? Because I'm neurotic. lol tongue I'm extremely obsessive compulsive and I can't stand buying pre-owned/damaged goods. I've thought about it a lot, though. I WANT these games back! lol
