Some one said something a little while back about Lucas re-re-redoing the movies for the new HD "Saga" releases in a few years, and it's got me a bit scared. I can't stop thinking about it.

Now, I have to say I don't mind the DVD versions of the movies. There's like up to two things in each film I didn't like him changing and that's it. I really liked what he did.

But now I can't get images of him throwing in scenes on Coruscant with the Emperor into ANH, or Alderaan scenes, or other crap, changing the Vader/Obi-Wan duel to feature new CGI versions of the characters so they can flip and crap -- or whatever else he might do.

It just has me worried, cause I don't want to see ANH changed any more. I thought the things changed for the SE/DVDs were understandable in most cases, but anything more and it's just......

I am afraid.

But anyways, back to the actual jist of this thread.

I can relate to how your feeling. As of right now, it's just a rumor.

Personally, I really enjoyed what he's done with the '97 & '04 updates. Actually, I'm kind of surprised he hasn't done more. ILM went through a very meticulous and extremely detailed task of cleaning up & fixing continuity errors, bloopers and effects problems as well as re-inserting and re-doing a few scenes the way George originally intended them to be. Yet, there were still a lot of continuity errors, effects problems and bloopers that they didn't fix. Bizarre. I was hoping they were going to reinsert some fantastic scenes that were cut from the original theatrical versions due to time, money and effects technology constraints now that these are no longer a problem. I do like to keep the original theatrical versions handy for nostalgia purposes, though.

George has always expressed dissatisfaction with the final theatrical releases of the original trilogy. He had to make an incredible amount of comprimises on every level of the films due to constraints of time, money and technology. It drove him nuts. He wasn't able to capture the epic scope the way he originally envisioned. Being an obsessive perfectionist myself, I guess I can relate to him as well.

A few of the many scenes I'm really bummed they never finished and re-inserted, were the scenes with the B-wing in ROTJ.

Anyway, back on subject...

The movies will never be perfect.. I can see George re-releasing new editions every 5 years with tiny changes that really only fanbois like ourselves will notice tongue

Well, now that that's out of the way, it leaves me with one question left: Will these games work properly with U.S. version PCs, OSs, programs and peripherals? (That should give you a hint on how PC literate I am, lol). I don't even know if there's any difference to begin with. wink

Yes. You'll probbaly have to set the game to run in Windows 2000 or ME though, if you have XP (just right click on the program and set compatibility.)

That is because the games are old though. Don't go switching all your European games in the future like that hahaha...

Actually, a couple weeks ago I had re-installed both X-wing vs. T.I.E. fighter and the Balance of Power campaigns on my PC. Despite having Windows XP Pro, I didn't have to do anything to get them running properly. yikes Needless to say I was really stoked. lol

Thanks for all the help, guys. I really appreciate it. cool

Re: Fighter Controls

Yeah, actually, I'd like to see the B-Wings back doing more in ROTJ, but only if they weren't CGI, because I love the fact that the Battle of Endor is the most spectacularly awesome space battle ever and is done entirely with models (and a tennis shoe!)
