Re: Fighter Controls

Tennis shoe? I'm intrigued.

Re: Fighter Controls

One of the Mon Cal cruisers is actually the underside of a spinning tennis shoe.

Back in 85, ILM said that there was so much stuff in the Battle of Endor, that they were able to stick a tennis shoe in, and for years people were searching for this tiny shoe in the huge battle, when actually it's hiding in plain sight all close up and personal.

Here it says the shoe was in ESB.

Re: Fighter Controls

Interesting, but ILM has always said the shoe is in BoE. And it was found and reported to Insider in Issue 70 of that publication.

Just after Lando tells Wedge to look out for "three from above" follow Wedge as he targets the TIE Interceptor. A blockade runner and a transport will come into picture as the TIE is destroyed. The next large ship coming into the shot from the upper right corner is what you're looking for....
...it appears as if it is the side and bottom of the tread in extreme close-up, touched up with some weathering effects to help it blend in...

Re: Fighter Controls

This was RoK (based on Battlestar Galactica TV show)

The movie shows me messing around, but it had 6 degrees of freedom in flight. It would be cool to have something like this in FS.

Re: Fighter Controls

That actually looked pretty cool. It made me long even more for a Death Star II tunnel run map, except the tunnels would have to be made far wider.

Star Wars space battles are based (or even ripped) off WW2 dogfights. Lucas has stated that was the intention. The Death Star trench run is based loosely on Dambusters. For that reason, you'll notice the fighters in Star Wars (especially in ANH) behave a lot like planes - they don't stop, move sideays or reverse. Naturally they will stop, for gameplay and realism's sake, but it is unlikely that they will be able to hover up and down, or strafe, like in that video, as that would be uncanon.
