All I was saying is that to get good gameplay the 2 sides need to be "balanced" and sticking strictly to "LORE" may not make this possible due to the inherrent un-balanced nature of the EMPIRE and REBELS (which in the films was balanced by the 6 heroes and the force)

You are right, the rebels never could have done it without their six heroes: Admiral Ackbar, Wedge Antilles, Mon Mothma, General Dodanna, General Iblis, and General Rieekan.

lol - that is a fantastic post - not the same 6 i was thinking of but a relevant 6 none-the-less

LORE would lean towards having the EMPIRE with larger numbers, "better" vehicles and technology, and some highly skilled and trained parts of the army

This is very difficult to effectively program into the game as you could not unbalance the numbers in the game, give the team with better numbers all of the best ships - I think I would be able to predict which side would keep winning in the games!

It would be difficult to ensure that the best players get on the smaller team to counter-act all of this - e.g. do you program "the FORCE" to allow REBELS to get lots of "lucky shots" wink

I know that the 6 heroes play no part in FS but I think that the wider audience needs to be considered to ensure that FS is successful on as big a scale as possible

I would say the vast majority of this "wider audience" have just seen the films and are not "lore" experts

Therefore I think that "LORE" should definitely be used as the guiding principles BUT not to the exclusion of good gameplay IMHO

Actually TIE fighters are far worse than the X-wiing, TIEs were mass produced while X-Wings were almost handcrafted elite craft with shields and hyperdrive, think Panzer tank vs the Sherman, it took 4 Shermans to kill 1 Panzer.

So no need for the Force if the X-Wings are better anyway, so if we went with strict lore the Imperial team would need to outnumber the Rebels by 3 to 1 , so I think we've got it pretty good with a slower but sturdier X-Wing and a faster but harder to hit TIE smile

Yes, but the ones not flown by one of the "heroes" **LUKE** seemed to get fried pretty quickly! lol wink

Regardless of the true law I think that point has been made that LORE is extremely important and only second to balanced gameplay

I am so glad you are taking this approach and I am looking forward to the most "true to lore" and balanced STAR WARS game we have ever seen big_smile

The rebels could get 2 more powerful X-wings on a  map while the Imperials get 3 or 4 cheap tie fighters. That would balance it out.

Besides, TIEs get wasted even quicker lol.
