Re: Dark Troopers

I don't see how they could be created anyway. The devs flat out refuse to do pick-up kits, despite me and Ty and others' best efforts to change their minds, and as a class it'd be overpowered (armour, heavy weapons, etc.). It could be nerfed, and there are probably lots of people who would rather have nerfed dark troopers than no dark troopers at all, but personally... I don't see the point.

I said vehicle not kit.

Re: Dark Troopers

But that can't be done either, as the Dark Troopers weren't vehicles. It'd be like having a Battle Droid/Droideka vehicle people could enter. You gave me an idea, though - the Dark Troopers could perfectly well be droids launched just like the probe droid. That'd work just fine, I think, the Dark Troopers being droids and all.

Still seem to recall the devs are pretty dead set against having them in, though.

Re: Dark Troopers

Yea but then they have to be coded liek a vehicle with new animations weapons, materials... and countless other junk...

And then you would have radio commands of a vehicle instead of infantry, you couldn't say "follow me" you couldn't have more than like 3 weapons... Couldn't go prone... Probably couldn't have a regular jump...

Too many problems... Pretty much impossible to create effectively without pickup kits... Even then it would be difficult to balance and code the right way.

Re: Dark Troopers

I don't feel like going up against a Dark Trooper Phase 3 anyways.
Now a bounty hunter class, that sounds more than doable. *Hint hint*

Phase 3 variants were able to be worn as a battle suit.

Battlefront did Dark Troopers just fine until they made their blasters more accurate and increased the recharge rate of their jump packs.  While those changes made them more hardcore as Dark Troopers would be in actuality, it only made winning in the Galactic Civil War as a Rebel as hard as it already was to be a droid in the Clone Wars.  Whether it was tards whining or developers that were tards, the only patch ever released for that game only made it worse.

I think they'd be an acceptable class, either an additional class entirely or a replacement following a merger of either Trooper and Support or Trooper and Heavy Weapons.  Or perhaps Heavy Weapons and Support.  Just need to make sure no one goes overboard with them.

Take a lesson from the Battlefront series:  they weren't broken, but they tried to fix them.  Luckily, their tweak on the Jet Troopers didn't have an effect, positive or negative.  But, unfortunately, they didn't learn the lesson that it's important to remember the nature of whatever it is you're trying to create...  unless they wanted to make something in the semblance of crap.  I'd believe it.
