Funnily enough we just got some great news today ,as far as space maps go.

Dice have kindly added back a few lines of code that enables us to steer clear of those horrible grids that were present in that other SW mod wink  ,way back when .

So, now we have more space wink

True. We now have an enormous amount of space we can utilize, all thanks to a line of code that will be present in the next patch.

Can you give a idea on what type of game play space well be like?
I know its not titan based from what I gather from other posts, and It might be conquest  based.
One thing I would love to see is a doing a way with the Flag c.p. thing and making it a task instead. like for a ship's c.p. you got to blow some thing up a computer or a engine  before you can take that c.p. . For land base maps make a r2d2 type robot open or close a door that would make it realistic or in this case movelistic with out making it to hard. Hell on top of that I would love to see some type of  consequences or Environmental Change on the map, say like blow the engine the lights they turn red or flash. In land base maps blow up a building to land on path just make it a trigger not actual weapon damage this way you can avoid lag ifs just added there instead of making it brake under weapon fire (from what a gather the BF2142 engine can't make breakable buildings because of lag issues)

The space maps , like alot of maps , will play out in an unique way , dependant on the story of the map, for the most part.

Isn't that how that HL2 mod did it? Eternal silence wasn't it?

The problem is that puts a lot of limits on what you can do. No open hangars, less flexibility on boarding, little point of escape pods, no walking on outside of ships... the list goes on...

It really steals the immersion when you have a *space* section and a *ship* section with very clear defined and limiting paths between the two.

Sometimes it can be fun to have a little screwyness and see people falling out of a ship...

A little tidbit I had been thinking of... would it be possible to blow off sections of the ship and have them float away with both sections still functioning as intended (or having one side dysfunctional?)

The feeling of seeing your ship ripped in half and watching the guy next to you float away slowly would be kind of cool... sometimes, going down on the ship or transport, watching people bail is the best part.

Another question... will we have space battles over planets? Like titan mode, but two high up to be hit by anything other than a special laser or missile battery. The game of course wouldn't end when one side had their ship destroyed, no, they would be able to watch it fall from the heavens and leave its flaming wreck on the surface. Of course, they then would be put at a major disadvantage due to orbital bombardements and lack of air support...

so... from what im thinking...

if you do an Endor map.... and its time based.... the imps HAVE to kill all the rebel ships in a time limit......

I.E befor the Death star shields go down...

thats the space map btw.... was dissapointed in STBF2 for Xbox.... as there was no Endor space map
