Please, Devs do not feel rushed by a couple of impatient people. I think Preacher knows very well what happens when a mod team gets pressured into releasing their mod too early.

As for people moving on to new games, you do know that more people are playing BF2 than they are 2142. Not everyone jumps at the newest shiny thing to come out.

From the videos I saw of ArmA on youtube and such, the game looked rather boring. Occasionaly running into an enemy, while hardly ever advancing the line. I'll admit that I've never played the game before but I for one am not excited by it.

The squeaky part may get the grease, but only because it's anoying and people want it to stop.

pwned!

hey guys, im new to the forums, but a good friend of Perfect here who has told me so many great things about this game!!!!! can't wait!

Re: FirstStrike better hurry and launch

To be completely honest, PR has very little to do with the success of a mod. As harsh as it is to say, the larger fan sites, and a bit of luck have far more to do with it than anything much the mod team can do (assuming its a well made mod, which so far FS obviously is).

Hi guys !

Pls, don´t compare apples and pears. One wants to be a military "simulator" the other one wants to be a fast paced action oriented multiplayer shooter. Large areas (ArmA) = medium graphics quality, small areas (BF series) = better graphics. The reason is pretty simple. The amount of data which is to be stored into your onboard ram is limited. You can´t have both. Perhaps 10 years later we can have have 1 terrabyte of ram and an operating system supporting it. Even Vista 32 supports 4 gigs only, so we have to be patient for a while. Besides, even the fastest internet connection available today doesn´t ensure smooth gameplay when it comes to massively multiplayer shootouts. 32 players is ok for me but for 64 players you need a very fast server and players with a good connection. So limited maps (BF series) is a good way to ensure smooth gameplay and good graphics. I hope FIRST STRIKE lets us fly a bit farther out compared to BF2 and 2142 before the counter starts.

May the Force be with you

ArmA's graphics are better than BF's. If I remember correctly BF doesn't even have HDR, shadows on everything, blinding sunlight and motion captured animations.

Personal opinion. I think they are about the same.

Technically speaking ArmA's might be better - but they still look dodgy.
