Re: FirstStrike better hurry and launch

Shattered Faith slowed down after their leader (was it Preacher?) left the team. His leave caused a morale loss that contributed greatly to the eventual death of the project. I don't blame him in any way, of course, I'm just saying that was how it happened (and I think FS had been slowing down a bit before that, too). Really sad, as it was looking to be very original and promising. They also seemed positive as to modeling my hometown for the game, which would be really awesome.

I hope that some day, some time, the project may be reincarnated and finished for some other game title. I know that when that time comes, I'll be sure to offer encouragement and help all the way and eagerly download the finished result if it ever is released.

Re: FirstStrike better hurry and launch

lol... Preacher works for tis mod lame. lol.  SZier was the leader, he left to go earn the big bucks with some game company.

The main reason the mod died was because of the lack of personel. And many of the things they planned for thier mod was impossible on the BF2 engine. Even impossible for the 2142 engine.

And the only guys still actively modding in this community said they weren't interested in picking it back up again.

Re: FirstStrike better hurry and launch

At the moment, I'm in no place to get antsy about the release, as my computer melted down a few weeks back. (currently posting this message via a Nintendo Wii, how high tech ghetto is that? also why i'm not bumming around Irc).

The whole release thing is such a double edged sword. I personally loved being able to play the early gc build of hoth, even if it was a little bugged at times, and the only map to play for months. Of course, if you took an active interest and joined irc, you got to play with some vehicle test maps (the a-wing with it's high speed shake was funny).

On the other hand, inoticed people with no forsight got bored with the map and moved to other stuff. If it wasn't for people that don't understand the idea of what a beta release is, i would be clawing at the forums, begging for a crumb. As it is, I'll just keep a beefy supply of Malox/pepto around.

Keep up the beautiful work guys.

and you can bet I'll be bummin' around irc when my 'puter comes in a couple weeks...

.... provided it works. this is the first time i'm buying a pre-built one, instead of building my own since that POS Packard Bell i got stuck with ~13 years ago,so i'm nervous.

It's not Camping anymore, it's "Strategic Defense".

... I didn't ram you, i simply didn't care that you were in my way.

Re: FirstStrike better hurry and launch

Welcome.

As you say, we dont see it being beneficial to release a map (or maps) too early and unfinished. Whilst some people may have fun initially, it would hurt the mod in the long run. Lots of people ,who dont quite understand, would be like " is this it?" and move onto something else.

With us holding back for a more complete 1st release , some people may get fed up of waiting and go and play some other game for a while , sure , however if the mod is good and is getting good reviews theyll come back. That , i have no doubt.
