Re: New ATST design

the only camo i remember from the originals are on hoth....where they added bits of armor that where white...of course the Stormtrooper's where white so maybe im watching things :S

but i love the idea TY2D2 had of a Rebel walker.... you could have the rebel sign either scratched on it or sprayed on

and in the Battle of Endor i remember certain things(coz its my fave episode, followed by 5,3,4,1 then 2) and the empire base should be in the middle of the map. coz there where dif entrances(a.k.a the Rebels where at the main entrance saying they cant get though then the Ewoks show them the back entrance) and it should be the empire base smack-bang into the middle of the map, and a huge forest all around it! and i also think(if possable) to have the empire out-numbering the rebels in some maps. smile

what do you think?

P.S this is my 2nd post so ive probably posted 2 ideas that have already been posted at an earlier stage.

Re: New ATST design

I think we all have our own ideas on how each and every map should be, so no surprise there smile .

As for a night map, I posted an idea on it in the Custom Maps section. I pictured a forest map that was totally, 100% dark, leaving players dependent on their own light sources, and light sources such as blaster bolts, fires, explosions, and so on to see. Ambushes would be the order of the day wink .

Finally, I like the idea of some scattered stolen Imperial vehicles. According to lore, they got all their Nebulon B frigates from the Empire, and I wouldn't mind too much seeing other vehicles either. An AT-ST here, an artillery piece there, all with some sort of Rebel touch to them. Could be new camouflage, some modification, or something else, I don't know. But it'd add some variety to the maps.

It does follow the strategy of guerilla warfare, capture what the enemy throws at you and use it against them. You grow stronger as they grow weaker, even if by a little amount. smile

Re: New ATST design

i dont mind night maps, but then atleast give this furturistic army sme night visions.
as for a rebel walker. it doesnt make sence to go and repaint a walker on the battlefield becuase you just got it from a former imp base (you jsut captured)

And please, some map designer, remember... there was at least one AT-AT on endor...

The AT-AT stationed on Endor is called Tempest. I believe there was only 1 AT-AT on Endor but I could be wrong. The AT-ST's were Tempest Scouts 1-6 but there might have been more.

Re: New ATST design

I thought the Swamp-Troopers in Jedi Knight II were awesome.. however I can't see a need for the Empire to camouflage an AT-ST ... it's not like it's going to stay in one place forever, and they were primarily used as Garrison Sentry's ...  And it might be too much of a stretch for the purists playing the game...

HOWEVER,
This mod team has been together in some fashion, with BLITZ, and XERO leading the way for well over a year now,  I doubt we will stop after an initial release, and you never know what maps we might want to add that are unique and different, the mod team has discussed *eventually considering clone war's era maps ... BUT we are a long ways from there, and the next version of BF might be out by then.... You never know.

As a side note.. I believe that because of the way games are made today, mods are becoming less popular, and less convincing along side an original game, the one exception to this seems to be Half Life 2, because there engine is so well documented and can be modded extremely well, DICE - Don't make me go to HL2 after this mod is done...
