Re: Death Star map

STOP WITH THE R2 OBSESSION!!!

As for TV guided missiles in the Y-Wing, that would be cool, but it doesn't fit with Lore.

Re: Death Star map

True it doesn't fit with the lore in some aspects, but then again, they use targeting computers in the movies, and I'm sure that the comps would have advanced guidance systems that we aren't able to reproduce in the BF:2 engine.  I think that tv-guided would be a good replacement.  It may not be lore-perfect but I think that it wouldn't be such a bad thing to stretch here and there.  Plus, it is lore acurate that there were two-seater Y-Wings, one pilot, one gunner

and heydude, whoa man, not having R2D2 isn't the end of the world, let the devs do what they do best; make the mod.

Re: Death Star map

The gunner was only for when pinpoint accuracy was needed with the Ion cannon and for moral support.  Although I do agree that TV Missiles would be a good addition to the Y-Wing.

I think I get the idea. A long missile lock, forcing you to be either a slow sitting-duck, or a trench flying Laser dodging maniac.

it could get a bit one sided, because all the imperials would have to do is park a heat generating Vehicle next to the vent with a pack of engineers to repair it as the attacking wave passes, unless its possible to prioritize the lock function, which again could get irritating as you're trying to kill a fighter, and your missiles decide to switch targets on you halfway through the flight.

and grudgingly, I'd give Hey's idea merit too, cause it gives the Ywing a bit more potency, and I'm a big Y wing fan. Xwings and Awings are all well and good for hit and fade, but the Y covers all the bases. slowly.

No, you don't get the idea.
The gunner has to manually select the target before firing. So that stupid camping idea wouldn't work.

Oh and maybe the PILOT of the x-wing, a-wing, bwing, and the one seated imp craft with rockets could have a different system: If you fire your torpedo/rocket/missle/blah while a vehicle is "on" your crosshair it would lock on and go for that target. I think it's balanced...

Re: Death Star map

No, Harry is talking about an auto-lock, like the jets in regular BF2.  Not the TV-Missiles.

In any case, if you're gonna park a decoy vehicle by the hole you may as well get the biggest vehicle you can find and completely block the hole.

That vehicle wouldn't live long smile repairing isn't instant, you know.
