All requests are noted. Don't worry. We can't stick 100% to the movies . We have to delve into EU and we will.

Don't take any of our posts here ,or in other threads, as final. The space map we have in the works now is Hoth Escape which, since its a movie map, will be staying as close as humanly possible to the movie. Ie. no EU vehicles. When we come to EU space maps the chances are they will feature EU ships, atleast some of them. We arnt at that point atm , so we havent spent any large amount of time deciding which other ships we will be including. The biggest discussion i can remember was about the Republic Gunship inclusion ,which got shot down ..or thats atleast how i remember, tho i may just be biased wink (did my head in seein rebels usin rep gunships in SWBF2)

I just don't want this mod to focus only on movie ships. I think you should expand at least a little into the EU and other games. I know from experience that knowing that theres at least one ship that you know all the general strategys on how you should use it can make you a little more comfortable with the game. Having only movie ships makes the mod repetitive. You need some variety. For the first release, I'd settel for about 3 to 5 EU ships. I'd be okay with that. I agree with what you said about the X-wing series, so does that mean you won't shoot down my Marauder idea?
In other words, I'm saying that I think that you should at least give the players a choice between long range combat and short range. Thats why I bothered to go into alot of detail with the ships. It was for balance reasons. If you did decide to put them in, which I'm pretty sure you won't now, the Broadside would have been intended for missle attacks and the marauder for hit and run. The Broad would be terrible at close range while the Marauder would be just the opposite, weak at long range. See how they cancel each other out?

Well, in that case, why don't you make your own maps and models when the mod will be released? If the FS team agrees of course , then you can have what you wanted wink

Edit: I meant custom maps, there were a few of those for GC.

I'd would like to try to model and code it, but the last time I tried to do that, the tanks barrel pointed out the left side and the shells shot out of the pie. So to hit your target you had to point your pie at the target.

I think basically the logic is take things that are convenient or popular. The Lancer is great, although it wasn't in the movies, it is the perfect ship that can be adapted to match up with the corvette. I'm sure there will be instances where this will happen again and it will be a breath of fresh air to see some cool new stuff.

On the other hand, the movies are cool, and people love playing with things from the movies - to re-live the movies as it were. That really has to be our main priority because I know that I, and many others, love that the most.

Gameplay is also a consideration, its unlikely we will include things that serve no purpose because we have limited time and resources and we want to create the best experience possible. But again, that doesn't mean that we are slacking on things that may seem unimportant, we do realize how important odd gimics and things can be for immersion and integration so we do take things like that with a high priority.

The last thing to take into account if you want to predict what things will be in the mod, is Lore. It's unlikely we will add anything to any maps if it is not Lore accurate, so think about what maps we have planned and then you get a good idea of what will be added. Maybe once/if we expand into EU maps, you will see more EU stuff, but there are lots of key battles and map in Star Wars that need to be done before that and I think most people would hold in higher priority.

Don't take anything I say here for granted but thats the general idea I've got from this development. Hopefully that helps.

Although this is a long ways off, when you guys roll around to a space Battle of Endor map, I'd like to request one "special" vehicle.

Whoever the commander of the Empire team is, he would have the option of spawning in the throne room of the Death Star II, or in this case just some simple one-room structure away from the action that appears to be looking out into the battle from the POV of the Commander.

Have evil Emperor phrases play every so often "Your friends on the Endor moon will not surviveeeeee" etc.

Give him full radar and the option of firing the superlaser at an area of space once every few minutes - it would either destroy a capital ship or could be targeted at a swarm of fighters to destroy them within a certain radius of the beam.
