first of all, there are many programming languages

such as python, c, c++, perl, fortran, and many others

i dont know what the 2142 engine runs on but i would inagine its either python or c++

i would suggest going to google and searching for guides until you get one that you like..

or you could always just post a thread on here asking if anybody knew of a good guide
