Re: Game freezing problem with looping sound? Please reply here.

Hi,

Game/mod freezes on me within 30-90 minutes every time I play(usually within 30 mins), with looping sound. I enter keystrokes that should 'restart/reboot' my system, but it's frozen and does not restart... even if I wait ten minutes. I can play vanilla BF2 or BF2142 for many many hours just fine.

Game graphic settings are all on High except Dynamic Shadows and Dynamic Lighting are on Medium. Using 2x AA.

Sound settings: Hardware, High, EAX is on.

I never overclock anything.

DirectX 9.0c Redistributable v9.21.1148 - November 2007 is installed.

MS KB917422 v6.4 October 11, 2007 is installed... Programs that limit the application stack size to 2,048 bytes may not run if you have older version of security update 917422.

Onboard Audio disabled in BIOS.

System Specs:

Intel P4 3.4C Northwood Core with Hyperthreading on Asus P4C800-E Deluxe(Intel 875P + ICH5R Chipset), Zalman 7000a-Cu HS/Fan, Enermax EG651P-VE 550W PSU, 2 GB Mushkin eXtreme Performance(2-2-2) Dual Channel PC3200 RAM, Samsung 214T MultiSync 21" Digital LCD Monitor, HIS(ATI) X1950 Pro AGP Videocard with IceQ3 Cooler and Catalyst v7.11 Driver, DirectX 9.0c v9.21.1148(November 2007 update), Creative Audigy2 Platinum Soundcard with Driver v02.09.0016, Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speakers, Western Digital 250 GB w/8 MB Cache 7200 RPM Parallel ATA HDD, WinXP Pro SP2 32-bit, Norton SystemWorks and Personal Firewall 2007

Audigy 2 Soundcard Driver version is 02.09.0016. Believe me, if you go to Creative's site to download it, that is the version listed. It's the latest version available and is dated October 9, 2006.

I hope you guys can find out what the problem is. This problem essentially makes it so I have to shut off the power to my computer, which is not a good thing if you ask me. So I consider the mod to be unplayable for me at this time.

Regards and good luck,

OneTinSoldier

"Variable this is EasyRhino, do you copy? Over." Loud and clear EasyRhino. "Do we have a gig? Over." That's a Roger, we have a gig. Target is painted, start the music. "Roger that Variable. Into attack. Pickling target. Target is acquired and lit. LGB comin' down!" EasyRhino, circular error probability zero. Impact with High Order Detonation. Thank You, have a nice day.

dudes I had this too, I believe it had something to do with sounds, especially the AT-ST(if I'm correct)sounds... I only had this on Endor and Tatooine...

What I did: I simply dropped the soundsquality, from 66Hz to 44, you won't hear the difference, and you never'll have those darn(the only  swearing word that won't be punished, because it's too wimpy:P)freezes...

25% or so chance of it happening, has only happened on Rhen Var, once when I was taking a E-Web to a Rebel Tank and once while riding in a rebel tank.
