Yeah, I love this mod.  I've been watching this mod too since bf1942.  I liked it then too.  I hope the servers fill up.  I'm "AllFiredUp" in the game.  See ya on the flip side.

the mod started on bf2

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

As for space maps, they disappointed me at first as they seemed to be just random flying and shooting with no real purpose. Later, though, I realized that all they need is teamwork. When ships form up and cooperate, things get really, really intense really fast. I try to give hints and orders like 'keep the ships together' and such when playing, as I know it makes the game better for everyone when teamwork is used.

I think maps is the issue. 5 maps is not quite enough for a mod that has been in development as long as this one has. I do realise and understand the effort the team has made with the game engine, but perhaps it would be wise to officially back a "community map pack" the way the Movie Battles 2 team for JKA did? They rounded up a few good community maps and let it out as an official release.

JKA mapping is a lot easier than BF2 mapping. This coming from a guy who's made his fair share of MBII maps.

I could not disagree more. I love the space combat. You just need to get used to it and feel out tactics. I rarely get locked into an 'endless turning war of death...' Turn out of it, switchbacks, etc. If you have the initiative learn to turn into the attack on angles that allow you the advantage if the target survives long enough to initiate a turn. Too many people are engaging too close as well. Keeping your distance will usually keep you invisible on the target's HUD. There are many other things to keep in mind, but I've found it's just surprisingly tactical dogfighting and a tremendous amount of fun. My thanks and respect to the developers and I look forward to more maps with complete confidence in this mod's future. This is only the first release. Support them, people. Actively spread the word to wookipedians and any SW geeks you know. With time this conversion could become hugely popular and brimming with content.

Re: Dead? hamsters I hope not...

I would say continuous updates for one reason....human nature. No matter what you give somebody, they always want a little more. You put out continuous updates...there is always something else to look forward to. You put out everything at once....it may keep people happy a little longer, because there is more content to go through before they want more. BUT.....they will still want more.
