Re: Custom Texture for one map?

I suggest that you make a duplicate of your mod, and call it FirstStrike-testing and keep that in a separate area , then just switch them back and forth between testing and real version play.

Re: Custom Texture for one map?

If you have the drive space you can take your modified version of the mod and copy the directory to another name, like FirstStrike_internal or something.  Then either reinstall the mod or change it back (in the original FirstStrike folder).  After that copy that directory to a folder called FirstStrike_Online.

From there a simple batch file can delete the FirstStrike folder and copy whichever version you want to use to that name. Make sure any changes you do in your custom map are saved back over your copy before restoring the online game.

This is how I have it set up for testing, and again you need the drive space to do it.

Re: Custom Texture for one map?

Do all your edits in a First Strike_copy I think that should work =p

Re: Custom Texture for one map?

Thanks Guys!

I think what I may do is keep this current rig (mobo, hd, ram, cpu, etc) and put it in another case I have and just have two systems.  I am updating my PC this week anyway and only need to pull an old 7800 GTX I have downstairs and put it in the "old" system for editing.

Re: Custom Texture for one map?

You can use just one mod if you put the texture into this actual folder structure (you'll have to create it)
firststrike/common/terrain/textures

If it's in a folder at that path as opposed to the zip it will work while allowing you to still play online.  This works for all folder paths.

Re: Custom Texture for one map?

Sorry, just getting back from some big computer issues.

Imperial, are you saying that the folder called "firststrike/common/terrain/textures" should go into the map folder?  Or are you saying that the folder can be put into the first strike mod folder for mapping and testing purpose?

Also, do you need to also make a folder inside the "firststrike/common/terrain/textures" folder called detail or color for the different kinds of textures?

Thanks

the folder path is based on the mods folder so it should be mods/firststrike/common etc.

And you will need to create whatever folders are necesarry to generate the path that your map is linking to.
