I actually had the same idea earlier today - a Battle of Britain-style map set in space. Funny.

But yes, it'd be a nice map. You could have optional targets such as UAV-style radar domes (like those atop Star Destroyers) that could be destroyed to make it harder for the defenders to react to waves of attack, and perhaps shield generators or deflection towers or something protecting a pair of the ships, or a section of the station? Then the primary objective would be to destroy containers and parked ships, as well as ships under construction. Defenders get cruisers, turrets, and fighters, attackers get various types of starfighters only. And perhaps a gunship or something. What kind of gunship the rebels have, though, I don't know. Perhaps an Assault Transport.

I'm reminded of the ending scene of Das Boot smile .

Only problem is that there is a limited view distance imposed by the 2142 engine.  Honestly, even the ISD in the Hoth map right now looks a bit shatner when you can see the nose but the tower is shrouded in fog.  Now, if it was me I would have scaled it down, but things are how they are.

I think the shipyard might be better done as a number of platforms rather than just one big one, thereby eliminating any of the weird situations arising from not having the entire massive structure in view at once.

yeah i agree. if there was the ISD it would only be in contruction though. maybe only half the size.
