I agree, it is moot to argue ST is even possible to stand a chance vs SW... Because we all know, SW would dominate.
Pretty damn true.
Strongest assembled fleet of purely Federation craft on screen: "Hundereds of ships in each battle in the dominion war. "
Strongest assembled fleet of purely Imperial craft: Numerous ISDs, Fighters, SSD, Death Star.
Most powerful EU Craft made by Empire: Sun Crusher
Most powerful Cannon craft constructed by Federation: "Trilithium torpedoe (oddly enough it works on the same principle of the resonance torpedoe in the sun crusher)"
Fleet Size/ Strenght
I stand by the fact that the Empire consists of 25,000 ISD's, >=7 SSD's, and hundreds of Nebulon B's Assualt Frigates and other such craft.
The Federation? Had about 8,000 capital ships before the Dominion War. Three years later when the DW began they had upped production to 400 ships a year and only came up with barely 9,000 ships total.
Whats worse? The main ship, standing at 2000 some in service, of the federation was the Oberth Class... a Science vessel that could not hold its own against pretty much anything... Then their were 800 Miranda's. 782 Scout class "Sabers". 480 "Federation Raiders". maybe 500 Excelsiors. ~200 Akira's. 7 Soverigns. 31 Defiants. 18 Galaxy class.
And nothing but the Soverign could take a ISD mano y mano...
Empire Wins

Weapons
But what about "phaser>lasers" uhm no? Bad generalization BAD.
The onscreen evidence that supports that claim is from some TNG episode where an underpowered civilization uses a laser on the Enterprise. The navigation shield had enough power to deflect the laser. However the scalping laser of the Borg tor ships up pretty nicely.
But this is all moot since the 'lasers' of star wars "use high-energy gas as ammunition, activated by a power cell and converted into plasma. The plasma is released from a magnetic bottle effect to fire through collimating components as a coherent energy bolt". Hey they arent true lasers! So they wont be deflected as such.
Also phasers have out puts on terrawatts the Galaxy could fire something like 50 megatons of damage full power phasers (probably not optimal). While the main batteries of ISD's operate in 100 megaton range.

All this is moot
Because even if the Empire found some wormhole or whatever to enter the Milky Way they would not be able to pose an invasion for at least decades if not centuries. Why? Simply due to the fact that their only form of FTL travel relies soley on heavily calculated and planed HyperSpace routes which they don't have for the milky way.
