Re: The Derelict

The interior of the SD will have to be  carefully designed. Though I love Sini's suggestion, a semi titan mode where the Rebels need to secure the SD before the nearest Imps get to the reactor and blow it...

Stardestroyer:    By smashing and crushing it is "blowing a hole" through the SD. A bullet smashes into a person then crushes and destroys anything in its way thats comparable in size. Think about it. A collision between an Asteriod and Space Ship doesn't obey different rules than a collision between a van and a 50 cal.

Repost, lost by Downtime: This has been suggested before, in the form of a derelict freighter with control points spread throughout its interior and an Imperial and Rebel fleet trying to board it, but I like the idea of a crippled Star Destroyer better. It lets us have a Star Destroyer map without having to attack the 'But there are over a thousand stormtroopers aboard, how can you possibly capture it?' problem.

What do you plan to use for boarding craft? Will you wait until the developers release something you can use?

Boarding Craft I haven't really thought out and I really am split on whether this map should have boarding or be simply flying around in your fighter, going by a control point on the hull until you take it, and fighting with the other fighters over those points because the decks may not be modelled, but first off let me say this. If I can get all the stuff together I may try to have a go at actually making this on my own, but until I do and if I cannot gather all the stuff (and I question my skill level), it is a suggestion. If anyone wants to take it upon themselves to run with this map idea and make it, I'll be glad to give it to them.

Also why did it go into the asteroid field in the first place?

Simple Answer: cause it makes the backstory work.

Complicated: To go across a system to annex or monitor a planet on the inside of the belt.

But it doesnt go throught the sd like paper there'd be more than damage than a hole. The area around the hole would be distorted. Think about it what happens if you throw a rock at sheet metal? It either dents it or punches through causing  the surounding metal to bend inwards toward the hole. And again an asteroid doesnt cause this type of damage. It will either create a dent, bounce off or cause complete structural failure.

Re: The Derelict

I mean the dont punch holes in stuff. They smash and crush things.

And what's left after it smashes and crushed away a huge part of the hull? A hole.

And again an asteroid doesnt cause this type of damage. It will either create a dent, bounce off or cause complete structural failure.

Sigh. First of all, we saw an asteroid really hurt an ISD in Empire Strikes Back. Second of all, if a small enough asteroid only leaves a dent, and a bigger one causes a 'complete structural failure', isn't it possible to have something in-between?

Re: The Derelict

Im not saying they cant knock chunks off im just saying they cant leave circular holes in the middle of a ship without causing structural failure. It would make more sense for it to be a chunk taken off the side of the sd instead of a hole in the middle.
