well, when we had that "Fight and Win" evening on the BF-News server, i once completely ran out of ammo at the ewok village, i shot my last pistol shots at a guy who came up and killed the guy who was about to finally resupply me (after yelling for 2 minutes), so i thought, whatever, lets jump right to him with my stun baton, he really missed me and i killed him with my melee weapon just because i was out of ammo

so i definitly say NO to taking out the knife

about dogtags, i highly doubt that dogtags would really attract that many ppl, seriously would you download a mod just for running around with a knife trying to get knife kills??? i highly doubt that such a human being exists, but agreed, the 'normal' players would use the melee weapons more frequently with dogtags included.

but as said above, if someone comes at you with a knife head on, just blow him right to hell...

Who said anything about taking out the knife? Were talking about dog tags.

The knife is good only for two things: As a last resort when out of ammo, and as a stealth kill weapon. The latter being pretty pointless when the game throws a big fat 'X HAS BEEN KILLED BY SAFEKEEPERN!!111' at you every time you kill someone. I still want it in, though, as you do run out of ammo in FS, even with dedicated Support players in your unit (Support players are not immortal, after all).

I still feel the Meele award should be taken out. Yes, you need to acquire 15 Teamwork points still to get it, but anything that encourages the use of a weapon that's supposed to be used as a last resort is bad for gameplay, in my opinion.

As a side note, we need a 'Don't taze me, bro!' radio message to throw at people when they bring out the stun baton.

SPOILER: normal people feel no humiliation when you are stabbed in BF. Its a game and would not happen in real life. Nothing to do with skill. It is not a 1337 hacker trick.
