The wings.  I find it hard to get through tight spaces with them open, and if I were a real Imperial pilot, I would be able to close them.  Perhaps you could bind the weapons buttons to control the wings.  Press the Weapon 1 button to open, press Weapon 2 button to close.  Or have the change weapon mode button toggle the wings open/closed.  Maybe when they are closed you have a noticeable speed limitation.

This was never addressed- I think it would make the lambda less teamkilly.

It would allow the pilot to be able to put the wings up, fly low, hover,  and then open the hatch while not descending. The guys could jump the distance to the ground like proper hardcore stormtroopers. No waiting for  the captain to turn off safety lights... when the ramp lowers, you can go.

Alternatively the pilot could fold the wings up, land, wait for the ship to settle and THEN let loose his cargo.

Re: Lambda Corrections

The Lamba is actuelly very easy to fly & use, the only thing you need to think off when getting in it, is not pressing forward or you'll go to hell. When you board it, hold S (backward) to hoover in the air, then when you feel it is safe to deploy your wing's press forward. The best way to fly the lamba is in a third person perspective. You need to look out for obstacles wich might hit your wing wich you wouldn't notice in first person.

Also (some people seem to forgot this) the lamba is a mobile respawn beacon, and the best use you can get out of it is landing it at a enemy CP and getting out, leaving the lamba there for players to spawn on it, when you capture it, run back to your lamba and go for the next cp, and hope no  new guy gets in first.

When u try to land, make sure u fly right, then just press s (not constantly) and use your third person view to see where u will land, the moment your wings are fully closed you will start to hover.

Re: Lambda Corrections

The lamda is easy to fly and use...  I the flying bit.  For the life of me, i can't land the thing.  It takes way to long, unless I jump into another seat and let gravity land for me.... and when i do that, a person who has no idea how to fly the thing jumps in the pilot seat almost assoon as I jump out and crashes the thing...

I like the idea of having a button to open and close the wings, and there being advantages and disadvantages to having them close or open.

I'd also like to see the lambda in EFH enterable, and gunners can spawn there too (but no passengers).  Those extra guns could really come in usefull... especially considering that once the ISD's guns are down, even with a slightly sensible rebel team, the majority of the transports will get away.

However, keep the lambda where it is, and don't make it easially accessible.  It takes teamwork to get down there, and takes teamwork to fly.  If its easially acesseble, all the newbies will be going for it... just like on Ryloth.

Re: Lambda Corrections

Its actually a badass assault vehicle too , if you fly within a certain flight profile.
I like to take it straight up to high altitude at 1st, cause if there was any enemy air assets they usually come after you. Then the tail gunner usually wastes any pursuing craft ( if hes got any skills at all ).  The ground attack segment has proven to be the most fun , as I usually spot ground activity before deciding where to start my diving attack. Reduce thrust on the way down while sighting targets with the main cannon, and if crew on board theyre also hitting stuff with their cannon.  This is especially chaotic for the rebels when attacking their main hangars.
Ive managed to attack, drop off people who spawned , and rearm several times in a row using this technique and being careful.

Re: Lambda Corrections

You can't set a key to make the wings close.  If we did this the wings would close once and would never be able to be reopened.  It's an engine problem.

Re: Lambda Corrections

Havn't been posting here for ages, so there might be something I'm missing... But I've always thought the Lambda was a personal "luxury" transport, rather than a troop transport?

Re: Lambda Corrections

Apparently it can do both. In the x-wing series the rebels would use lambsa shuttles for boarding operations when atr or stormtrooper transports were unavailable.

It isn't my first choice as an assault transport though. Still- its undeniably cool- and Circuitburner showed me a new trick yesterday (one that ended my killing spree in an airspeeder) wink
