Re: Officer Kit Discussion

Not to get too far off topic but I agree with Bandu's opinion on the Trooper/UAV.  Its a popular class given its straightforward killing power.  Which means there are alot of traveling UAV on the battlefield.  The element of surprise is totally lost.

What about giving the Officer the traveling UAV and the Trooper a stationary one?

The homing beacon requires 2 members, uav droid is 3. You only get 2 homing beacons.  I don't think anything should be changed because of the officer class. If people don't whant to play it, that's there choice, only a squad leader has real use of it anyway. I do think that the officer should be able to G on there stationary blaster and redeploy it, also a ammo box should re-equip the officer scan tool, Also the stationary blaster ammo supply should be upped from 80 to 150 or something.

Also a trooper without a UAV droid would be the same like a officer without a respawn beacon, why would anyone wanna play as trooper if he doesnt have his loyal ally flying behind him.
The trooper droid is also not THAT accurate, it does tend to lag behind sometime where it doesn't give a scan update for a couple of seconds wich could lead to certain death. Making you stay out of sight until the next scan update is there.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

Personally, I love the Locater Box as it is, and I often play as an Officer, but even I find myself ordering my squad about as a trooper , using the UAV droid - knowing that many of my squad will be doing the same , giving us a large radar outlook. Not tomention that using the UAV droid is a drop and forget tool - meaning I can concentrate on killing, rather than risking death and switching to the Officers Locater Box.

I, and certain others, such as Ty, are of the opinion that all the droids should either be removed or severely restricted (to 6 man squads or something).

The Trooper droid is too powerful, I feel, for the reasons stated by Bandu. The Trooper already has the homing beacons. When the enemy has a UAV tracking them where ever they go, it makes ambushing them nearly impossible.

Scenario at Mos Espa: The Palace Grounds fall. I know from experience that there's a good chance the enemy will be headed straight north down the street to Jabba's City House. So we hide in the alley, behind the crates, planning to ambush them and gun them down as they move past me.

Thirty seconds later, we're surrounded and butchered because the enemy's magic port-a-spy-sat told them where we were hiding.

Also a trooper without a UAV droid would be the same like a officer without a respawn beacon, why would anyone wanna play as trooper if he doesnt have his loyal ally flying behind him.

You can't be serious. You get grenades, smoke grenades, oming beacaons and a good primary weapon. Did you never play as regular infantry in games without droids?

FS  is a team game. Remove the "UAV droid", and make Troopers use homing beacons and cling to officers (read: teamwork) for sensor updates. As it is, the Trooper is a one-man army, and removing his portable spy sat would alleviate that somehow.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

I think the troopers droid should go. Be replaced. Like an attack droid or something. Ya know, that shoots stuff. And officers, as much as I love the pistol, I feel should get some other sort of weapon.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

I'm twisting my brain trying to find a way to balance the Trooper droid. Maybe if it lost its UAV ability and the Trooper instead controlled it directly, kinda like the Probot? Ie. you choose the droid, hit primary fire, and you move it around. When you hit "e" to leave it, you're back inside your trooper and the droid remains stationary until you pick it up.

This way, you can still use it to find enemies, but it's not an omniscient little hamsters like before.

I know this might be an "do something impossible with the engine, please" thing and take loads of testing, but I honestly can't think of anything better.

The idea behind the mod is to have class' be inter-dependant on each other, requiring people working together to get the most out of every aspect. Giving each class everything it needs, and practically straight off the bat to boot, as is done in other games , like BF2142, just leads to a bunch of individuals running around not working together.

Im sure people dont play the trooper class just for the droid- tho it does support rambo-ing.

Also, it is not just changing things to suit the officer. It is changing things to improve the overall ,teamwork orientated, gameplay. An Officer should be somewhat of a figurehead during the battle, at the moment, his uniqueness is made redundant and hinders the class inter-dependency. I'd rather be looking over my shoulder towards a human player supporting me and making decisions, than an AI controlled piece of geometry.

Re: Officer Kit Discussion

You get grenades true, but too make some succesfull kills with it, as in 3 in one, you either have to a) know there position (uav droid) or b) just happen to know there position or found a way to get behind em, then throw a grenade.
I must agree the Trooper is a 1 man army, and it should get fixed. Maybe there should some kind of cap on the troopers allowed on either team/squad.
