Re: 1.3 Patch Announcement

Basically, I think the Bestine hill of doom comes down to this: the FS player base, with all due respect, isn't as teamwork oriented as the mod and Bestine hmm . Ty is absolutely right when he says that the climb up the hill is relatively "easy" when you use a reversing Freerunner as a spearhead and fight your way up the hill, meter by meter, the Freerunner's aft gun laying down fire, troops advancing with it, and Support players hiding behind it to keep it repaired. But the average FS player is not going to go SL or Commander and organize this. Heck, not even the average PR player organizes stuff like that.

The eweb etc only hase 20% more initial, it wont break the bank it just gives them more time til re inforcements come in.

'k.

What is that picture for the article?  Is that something flying?....

Re: 1.3 Patch Announcement

Well, I just hate it when there isn't much coordination at all. Yesterday, I was on a team of 12, it was organized into 2 squads, and everyone was just running around getting shot. On top of that, there was only 1 medic on the entire team. That's just pathetic.

All heavy vehicles and AT-STs in some levels have been locked permanently to their teams.

I've never really understood how making locked vehicles even makes any sense. Anyone should be able to just climb into a vehicle and go, regardless of team. Sure, mobile spawnpoints and very heavy vehicles like AT-ATs should be locked because of their power and importance, but still, small-medium vehicles shouldn't really have a lock on them.

There are only two ideas that make sense to me here:

1: Make it a server setting, so people who want unlocked vehicles can toggle it.
2: This makes the most sense, really: The UT3 method, where vehicles are locked until someone uses them. This way, If someone leaves their vehicle lying around, it's their own fault for leaving it unguarded.

Curses, foiled again!

We can't do that due to the engine.

Balance settings shouldn't be server side options.

And it's not as if cap ships, fighters, and probots are team-specific already wink .

Aww man.
Alright, fine. I guess the reason this just angers me so much is because most of my strategy involves sneaking into a base undetected, then sneaking around. If I get detected, my usual escape plan is to snatch a vehicle and drive off. Well, heres how it makes the most sense for me, if we can't do the UT3 method:

If the vehicle is OPEN, like a speeder or speeder bike, it should be unlocked, but if it has a hatch or door or something that could be locked, then it should be locked. big_smile

So locking vehicles gives lone wolves one less reason to skulk about uncappable CP's instead of contributing to their team.

Splendid, one more reason to hold on to it tongue .
