Re: Mapping Q&A

Thanks a lot.

EDIT: Seems there's a couple more steps required, but I found this tutorial and updated Post 1 in this thread based on it.

Re: Mapping Q&A

got a major prob with lod switch distance on the bimmiel map. basically doesnt matter what value i put in the LodSwitchDistance tag it just ignores it in game. In game i think its set too around 100 meters which is no where near enuf! You walk around in like a little bubble and is especially noticable when driving vehicles. I've tried all sorts too fix it, even setting all the textures too lod 0 didnt work! Any suggestions as this ruins the map completely till its fixed.

Re: Mapping Q&A

He's talking about the viewdistance.  We told you this before, set your view distance!

Re: Mapping Q&A

Question: is randomization possible* in the BF2142 engine? Can you do something like create a spec ops mission where the defenders faced Imperials spawning at a CP that was randomly chosen from one of several sites when the map was loaded, and then, after they destroy some objectives, the Imps need to secure and hold an Pickup Zone which is also randomly selected?

*and with possible, I mean of course 'practical without a huge amount of struggle and headache'.

Why is all my layer one terrain suddenly really bright (as if the sun was shining right at it), regardlessly of where on the map it is? This only affects layer one (rocky terrain, not that it matters, I guess), but nothing else.

I don't know if you've solved this problem yet or not Safe-Keeper so I'll just give the most typical solution to this type of problem.

Make sure that you are in "Detail Mode" while painting.  With "Both" selected as the Paint Mode and either the "Texture" or "Color" box selected.  Select "Texture" if you want to paint with the "ColorTexture" from the Tweak bar.  Select "Color" if you want to paint with the "Color" from the Tweak bar.  This is assuming that you are painting using the editor.

Finally, after you're done laying down your layers make sure to click on Set Low Detail Texture then Generate Low Detailmap in the Texture box on the right side of the editor.  Then save.

OMG, Thank you so much. I spent two hours trying to figure out why I was clicking to paint textures and nothing was happening. I just had to select like two buttons...
