I have the same issue. Vanilla 2142 doesnt work at all now because i get the modified content error. I have tried the exiting thing and it was useless. there was no .bak file in that folder. onle one called shaders_client.zip someone help.

Can someone please help! I have done every hamsters damn thing stated how to install this mod, and went through all update via that launcher you provided and i can only run this mod when I crate one on local, but for those public servers, i see 5 of them are on line, only 1 of them i can join, Falcon clan or something... all others says "unmodified content" bullshit.. but, the thing is that i want to join on my buddy's server, and he has down. all needed stuff for making one to work. So what am I doing wrong, can someone please tell me? I want this to work, I'm a big fan of all Star Wars thing... but it just wont work. hmm lol

And now i found this topic, i have tried everything mentioned on how to fix this error all but removing UAC thing, also checked that First Strike and Launcher is allowed by Firewall. I have bf2142 deluxe edition 1.5 latest patch, PB is up to date, downloaded 1.4 Full patch from here which includes Launcher if I'm right ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/first-strike/ … -installer ). Now, the Launcher says when i click on File>Preference that Version is 1013, when i click to check for updates it says there is no new.
About that shaders_client.zip , same as guy before me poster, Admiral James, i only have that file, no .bak or such thing. I have too tried exiting Launcher and it didn't helped, again error for unmodified content bullshit.

Now my UAC is turned OFF, firewall is OFF and i get kicked from Falcon Clan server (which was THE ONLY one i COULD join) by PunkBuster, and just saying "You have been kick from the server by PunkBuster". I have tried to trace that msg (at least to see if I can see what was the real kick for) by PB in all BF2142 folders and couldn't find it. I really don't know what do to anymore. After spending hole night trying to make this work I'm really sick of it.
I have Win 7 ultimate 32bit (starting to guess that win 7 might be the cause), Intel Dual Core 1.6, 2 gb of ram, 9600gt 512 ddr3, not running widescreen (19" regular screen).

Ok, heres how I installed First Strike to my Vista 64 bit installation and used the same method on Windows 7 64 bit so it does work!

Installed 2142 and updated to 1.5
Installed First Strike 1.4
Turned off User Account Control, and then right click on both 2142 and FS icons, then set to run as administrator.
Ran First Strike and allowed it to update
Restarted the First Strike Launcher, then went in to File, Preferences and entered +widescreen 1 in the arguments field.
Ran First Strike, went to options and selected the correct resolution (will show if you enter the +widescreen bit as above.)
Went to online server menu and joined the RSF server.

*note, during the starting of First Strike I had two firewall popups, remember to set permissions for First Strike.

If you're still getting installer problems then it could be a bad download, try downloading FS 1.4 from a different download link. I assume you have patched 2142 to 1.5?

When launching First Strike for the first time you may crash to desktop if using a widescreen monitor, or you may find that your resolution is not supported. In the launcher window that the game will give you, click on file then preferences. There is a field there that is called arguments. In that field type +widescreen 1 it does mention this on the launcher but people tend to miss it! You can also use it to enter any other custom resolution not natively supported by the game, this is done by entering +szx 1920 +szy 1280 but substitute the numbers for your own resoltuion, eg 1280 and 1024.



Sometimes you just get unlucky and error messages appear. Its a mod, its not paid for, the guys making it dont get paid or make any profit. I'm sure its frustrating not having something work first time, but hey thats life I'm afraid. Even microsoft screw up from time to time, just be patient and ask for help NICELY!

Thanks for spending some time to answer me, Twigs.

I know it's free, and i wont say i don't like it, in fact i like the mod, i really do and i will try to make it work.

I have already been set bf2142 and First Strike to run as administrator.
There is no need to for me to type any resolution in File>Preference since i don't have widescreen.
Of course, firewall was first turned off just for BF2142 and First Strike, later i turned it off totally.
I even tried re-installing, First Strike and Launcher.

Though, there is only one thing that i have on mind, which may be that the file "2008_12_23_FirstStrike_v1.4_Full1000.exe" was corrupted and/or "fslauncher0.0.7.1pub.exe" .
I will try with downloading the same files from other locations, since that is the only thing left to try for me lol.

One thing, when UAC was completely off, I found out that it was causing PB to kick me. So, i didn't checked if its possible to make it off just for desired program. I will try that too. Another thing, after multiple times trying to connect to my buddy's server (using First Strike Launcher and so on) it will always said "unmodified content" (he was launching the game with the same steps as I), but then we both switched to Single Player FS (starting it from regular bf2142>community>mods>FS_SP) and he tried making server just to see what will happened. And i was always getting CTD when clicking on Deploy button on loading screen. After a while i finally joined the server for once but again CTD.

I'm downloading 1.4 full now again from another location, and hopping it will solve the problem. neutral

when I play bf2142 in First Strike mod,singleplayer.I create map normally . When the map load suceed. then,I click join game. And the game is not responding. How to fixit. I'm sorry about my English. I'm thai.and I know English a vevry little.
