What are you talking about? FS is perfect, all other opinions are wrong. Except mine. FS needs to be more like PR. Out.

Word.

Sorry, was away over the holidays etc.

Thanks for replying TALON.

No, the sound effects were created by our own guys as well as the voice work. Though it is  most likely possible that they sampled sounds from the movies and mixed them with them with their own sound effects, nothing was ripped directly from another Star Wars game. You'd have to ask our sound designer for a more detailed idea of what he did.

Wow, if that is the case then I must say I'm really impressed with the quality of the sound design...top notch work! I'm sure my friend would be interested in some further details...as a matter of fact so would I being an avid Star Wars fan myself. If the sound designer is reading this, please feel free to tell a bit about your work if its ok with you, I'm sure many would be interested to hear about it...great job! smile

Another thing to note if you plan to do a Star Wars game is that the tone has to be in line with that of the franchise itself, paramount amongst this, an element which is definitely a deal breaker is blood. You can't have blood in a Star Wars game, mod or not (yeah, I know there was blood when Obi-Wan slices off arms in the Cantina in A New Hope, but I don't write the rules wink). So make sure you don't have that or gore in your game and you should be alright. This is something that Lucasarts specifically stipulated in the rules that allow fan made product...

Ok, had no idea about that and I'm pretty sure neither did my friend...very good to know.

Yes, I think he already knows this, as you say its pretty obvious and if you made money off of it then I guess it wouldn't really truly be a fanmade mod anymore but rather a commercial project of sorts.

TALON, thank you very much for your answers. Very kind of you and you've been most helpful I'm sure. Must feel great to have been part of such a great mod, although I'm certain it has also been a huge undertaking and very difficult at times.

Thanks again for an excellent mod...you're making many Star Wars fans (myself included) very happy! smile

...All the best for 2009!

Re: Question to the Devs: Lucasarts, modding and copyrights

Hello again

Apologies for bumping my thread, but if its ok I just had one more question...

FSDev| TALON wrote:

Are Lucasarts rules (more recent policy in particular) perhaps available somwhere for closer reading? I've searched for any info on this, but all I found was older info from the time when LA was apparently more strict. You guys seem to know about these things, perhaps you've even been in contact with LA yourselves?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards
