Tie Fighters wouldn't be able to function on Hoth, so it's completely incorrect. Even the Rebels, who had been located there for many months, had not yet adapted their technology to the world. The only tech that they ever adapted was the specially built snowspeeder, only so because it ran on repulsorlifts, as opposed to ion engines and such. Non-speeders could never work, even if properly adapted. This is the reason why Snowspeeders can't do rolls and flips. They'd slam right into the ground.
