Re: Tatooine looks dull.

Ok, let's see...

You should to raise your Lighting setting to at least Medium, try also increasing the Dynamic light and Dynamic shadows to at least Low.

Please also note that Space maps will display glitches with View distance set to anything else than 100%, so you should increase it if you want to enjoy that aspect of First Strike. smile

You could also try j23k's advice (there's nothing to lose there except some time spent waiting for the game to optimize the shaders again)

j23k wrote:

delete the optimized shader cache located in the 'Battlefield 2142\mods\FirstStrike\cache' folder which is in 'My Documents'

The game will create new one

What's your Video card? You can see it on the Display tab of Dxdiag.

~The Farce is strong with this one

Re: Tatooine looks dull.

now we have a lot explained

first of all - you are using an integrated video chipset, which is officially not supported by the bf series, especially 2142

furthermore i assume that your bf2142 video settings are set to the almost lowest possible, because the intel video adapter just can't lift it.

as i checked all these settings with the manual on tweakguides.com - you have ALL of these settings set to at least medium,

the exceptions are: view distance must be at 100%, anti aliasing can be set to OFF, texture filtering can be set to low as well

a better solution would be: an gf9500gt(w/gddr3) or radeon4650(w/gddr3) - these aren't too expensive

EDIT:

now i realised that you have a laptop computer, so there isn't much to do with the problem i'm afraid
