In order to really teamwork, sometimes you have to take one for the team. Ormindo's hyperbole refers to the days where players knew there was no 'stats' to worry about and so they were less focused on earning points.
Suicide runs on walkers and other selflessness can leave you with a reduced or negative score and a horrible K/D ratio.
(fly the lambda when a server is full and you'll see how First Strike punishes players who try help their team)
Other examples of team over points:
Heavy weapons guys with rocket launchers in general. It's hard to get kills and theres no other way to get points but massed rocket fire is the best way to kill a walker at range, which is where you want to keep it.
Each rocket man knows he's unlikely to get the kill shot but the more rockets that fire the more likely the thing is to die before it can be repaired and thus more lives are saved.
The one guy who runs out of cover shooting a walker or throwing mines on its feet so it will turn to deal with him, exposing the rear vents to the Rocket guy/s (Ormindo usually) .
Officers running around with their scanner drawn instead of their pistol- supporting teammates getting no points.
Medics killing people with their area of effect grenades and not getting the kills.
