One thing to add, when running the launcher, check the update progress, if it seems to be generating a lot of errors (ie unpacking weapons, error, file may be corrupt) then try the following:

Delete C:program file/first strike

navigate to C:program files/electronic arts/bf2142/mods/first strike and run fslauncher0.0.7.1.pub, this will reinstall the launcher independantly of the game.

run the launcher again, it SHOULD update properly (make sure you set game version to 1000 in preferances) and then launch the game.

edit: Okay, I just fixed my Issue. You must do the following: 1. Go to the folder where the FS Launcher is located, 2. right click, go to compatability, and click on the box "run as administrator", 3 click on the FS Launcher icon in that same folder, 4. close the folder go to the main launcher window, 5. This is optional, you can possibly run it windowed or not. Either way this worked for me (and all the same junk that happened to you happened to me). 6. THIS IS IMPORTANT, DO NOT MAKE A SHORTCUT OF THE FSLAUNCHER YOU MUST RUN THE ACTUAL ICON (I dunno why, just work with me here).

This should fix the issue. FS mod team, you did nothing wrong on your part.

P.S. as a note, if you want to run this game smoothly(in vista that is) run it in windowed version. IF you dont want to do that then click here: http://forums.fsmod.com/viewtopic.php?id=7520

I reinstalled it all today, but I got no improvement.

Maybe there's something with my operating system (Vista x64), there's somebody with the same problem here http://forums.fsmod.com/viewtopic.php?id=8633 (and x64 version of vista too).

I suppose the best I can suggest is a reinstall, then. It could just be the launcher so here is a link to the launcher installer, but it could be the whole thing which would be a real shame.

Thanks for being patient with us, I understand the frustration involved when a large file you download doesnt work liek it is supposed to.

I had no BFBC;wmv, so I created one.I got the same issue.

Oh, and I forgot to say that the FirstStrikeLauncher.exe process remains open a few minutes after the "bug" and then finally ends up.

Right, this is just a guess. We uncovered what is causing alot of errors with the Deluxe version yesterday, and how to fix it, it may or may not work with EADM we don't know.

Go to your BF2142 folder again, look for a "BFBC.wmv" file. If it isn't there, copy any current file in your folder, rename it to BFBC.wmv (make sure the filetype changes), delete firststrike.exe again and try the launcher.

As I said, we've no idea if this will work with the EADM (still testing to see if it works with deluxe), but its worth a shot.

Alright. What version of the game are you using? The "normal", Deluxe Edition or the Download Manager version?

Argh, it don't work. A new firststrike.exe (same size as the ancient) is created, but the game still don't launch.

Go into your BF2142 directory (where bf2142.exe is located) and delete "Firststrike.exe". Restart the launcher, try to launch again and see if it works.

Launcher problem

Hi, I am currently not able to run first strike with the launcher.

The launcher starts normally, then when I clik on "play", the update works fine.

And then, then program ends and the game don't launch.

The game works with a custom shortcut, but gives me the "modified content" error (of course, that's why I need to use the launcher).

I'm running on BF2142 v1.5 with first strike 1.4 (and updated with the launcher). My operating system is Vista x64.
