The Deathstar map was about the only thing I liked about GC. I really liked how it very easliy gave the rebels and target that everyone know about (blowing up the damn thing) that made it easy to make the players work as a team, very fun and not something that is easy to do in online games with strangers.

One cool idea I have had is to get sereval turbolasers (big and small) linked togheter so one person can control an entire battery of cannons. Thing is to make the aiming pretty inaccurate so you would not slaugher the fighters easily. The idea is obviously taken from the battleships AA guns in BF smile.
But it would at least spray a map area with pretty inaccurate laserfire, would really add little "StarWars-feeling" to the map. Force the rebels to go fast and low maybe... and the Empier counter this of course by trying to shoot the rebels down i dogfighting.

Another point to why it would be nice is that you can have large portions of the map coverd with turbolasers and controlled by a few people. Would make it more playable with fewer players on the server, not always you got a full server.

But its just and idea, its up to the devs to see whats works, as long as the map is focus on fighters and turbolasers Iam happy ...
(but it looks cool when you sit in the AA guns on a battleship at least big_smile.)

Well I like the idea. I think mabye to make it fair, have one large turbo laser connected to two small turrets, that way everyone has a chance to gun, or fly.

Yeah, that is a good way of making it I belive.
Question is, if lots of laserfire (witch is nice!) will have big negative effects on the peformance on our computers. But thats for the devs and testers to find out I guess smile.

Wonder how they will make the targeting computer work with the hard task to hiting the right spot on the DS. In GC we all had to use "the force" hehe.

Is there anyway of making a map about the battle to rescue leia in the death star? That would be neat.... Though kinds wierd. Maybe u could make the rebel team be made up of luke an han an the rest, while having the server boot every one else to teh imps? Or something...

I like the idea of rescuing leia, but I don't think that would play very well in a BF2 environment.   Think about it, 3 guys + 2 droids vs. 59 stormtroopers?  hmmmm.  A custom map inside the DS that features areas seen in the movie might be cool, but a "Rescue Pr. Leia" map would be a little wierd.  Just my opinion though.  If someone from the community would like to work on a map inside the DS after we get our alpha out, I might be willing to make some models. Canadiens, you up for it? wink

Some things could be done to make it work. For instance you could make the heroes way more powerful than average, and make the stormies weaker. That alone could give it life. The way teh leaia thing could work is she could a player that is trapped in that cell at teh start of the game an has to wait to be released, or she could be a little pick up kit thing that has the player holding her. The 'leia kit' could even act as a flag to end the map. Also you could add in the neat areas of the film, the tractor beam generator (could be an objective), the huge pit thing luke an leia swing over (some type of funky viechle/prop could be made to fit the bill for the rope im sure) and loads of stuff. Sure its a different suggestion. But this seems feasible. Whether its fun or not I haven't a clue, but it would be another unique thing of first strike. Also It would be neat to see some of the cooler movie moments in the mod. I'm just thinking out loud, as always, lol.
