Topic: BF2 crash help

I just got a new rig and installed BF2 on it. The game loads and at the 50% mark of loading a map it just goes back to desktop.

opteron 165@2.2ghz
1gig pqi memory @200mhz(stock)
nVidia 7800gt stock.

Anyone ever had this happen before?

What is it loading when it crashes? Look in the bottom left hand corner.

Also, right-click your bf2 shortcut and select properties. Somewhere in there is a line of code that says "Fullscreen 1". Change the 1 to a 0 and bf2 will run in debugger mode, it should give you an error when it crashes telling you your problem.

I wish I could explain it better and give you images to help but I don't have BF2 installed. I just finished formating my PC.

Armed Assault will be out soon and the Galaxy at War mod converted for it so you won't need BF2.

Makes BF2 look like a corridoor shooter.  Dam I forgot thats what the devs turned it into.....random shooting too.  I hope first strike are doing away with random shooting?  It really really puts people off BF2, especially when games like Planetside are now free for 1 year.

fixed it. darn CPU fan wasn't turning on. Just put that on the regular case fan plugin and now she runs nice and cool.

i dun get these crashes... they never happened to me.  But now recently I finally got a chance to play KOTOR. AND NOW IT CRASHES ONCE IN A WHILE AS IM PLAYING IT! With no signs of slowing down at all!  WTF!?!
