Let's also remember that we don't even need new species to introduce new factions. There are smugglers, pirates, resistance forces and rioters, mercenaries, XWA-style private shipping companies with their own security forces, the list goes on and on. Project Reality has implemented assymetrical NATO vs. insurgency and Conventional Army vs Militia battles, and they're very fun and interesting to play. Imagine a SWAT-style scrap where a ragtag force of rioters or terrorists or paramilitary group or what have you, fight Imperial stormtroopers, who could employ tactics like door breaching, flashbangs, fast-roping onto roofs, what have you. Or a space map where Rebels or Imperials fight pirates or some other faction with its own ships, voice-overs, faction name, emblem and playing style.

As was said above, there is just so much material to draw from.

Anyway, if you're gonna make a third faction, the best will probably be to name it "mercenaries". Under this name falls a lot of people: smugglers, pirates, bounty hunters, all other scum and villainy from the wretched hive and beyond. And to make it stand out, you can design one character for each class and when you start/respawn the computer randomly chooses which one you will play. So, once you'll play as a trooper, but after you die, you'll play as support. After that - heavy. It will really spice up the game and make it a challenge to play them (and probably fun too).

Ask the people of Freelancer's "Freeworlds: Tides of War" MOD to donate some of them. They might accept, they might refuse, but without asking you'll never know. But some of the models were donated to them from other MODs (although I think some of them might have been reworked later), so it's likely that they'll accept.




P.S. Just wondering, is it possible to have three factions fight each other in the same map? It will be so fun if possible! lol

And... is it possible to make custom classes (it will be cool to have a Gamorrean guard in the middle of a group of enemies)?

I'd love to see this but We don't have proper battlefield assets for the main factions yet.  There are no light air transports, just hulking teamkilling monstrosities. The rebels don't have a proper tank analogue.
Antiair missiles from atsts or fighters don't have locking tones.

There's a lot to do before the main factions are up to 2142 standards and then there's map balance and bugs.

The easiest way to stick outlaws in a map would be as an infantry boarding map like has been suggested, with reskinned rebels and bounty hunter kits.

So, can you make custom classes?

And can you give different stats for equivalent classes, but from different factions? For instance, the Rebel trooper runs faster than the Imperial, the Imperial trooper have more armor, etc.

And can you add/subtract tickets dynamically during the game? For instance, the Imps have 20 tickets and the server adds another 10 (as reinforcements).


I'm asking because I have some ideas about the current classes as well as new Modes and even about the Modes I already suggested (the last question is ideal for the Advancement Mode I suggested, where you need to have some control of the ticket system).
