There is a trick to get into beta... first you give each of the dev team money (cash only). Then you have to make a suit of armor out of tin foil and cardboard, and then you have to draw 100 pictures of Mr. Saturn (in jpeg format).

Actually I can state that being in IRC does increase your chances considerably.  Of all the testers selected so far, the majority have been from our IRC channel as it demonstrates a mark of dedication we desire in a tester.  Plus we coordinate all efforts on there so it's important for us to have people who can leave the channel open when free (and interact on it)
