Topic: 2nd Death Star Trench Map

This is a rather ambitious map, and should thus be left to the end of development if made, but a map set within the narrow tunnels of the second DS would be incredibly fun, if simply for th navigational hazard.

There's a couple impossibilities to overcome before we attempt something like that.  Firstly, I don't think the map would be complete unless we had a large surface area the imps could defend over.  And given that it's an incredibly high amount of statics to build a tunnel then we can't have the view distance that great.  And with a short viewdistance how do we render the large plates that make up the surface?

It'll take a lot of mapping genius to overcome the obstacles posed by trying to put something so huge into the BF engine.  That said, I'd love to give it a try!  Though only after we've gotten the mod out the door.

Its very much possible with clever tunnel setup and lod settings .... Im pretty sure I could pull it off ..would be quite a while from now tho.

Yea it doesn't really have to be THAT many peices to hte tunnel.. could be alternating peices, or pieces that fit like a puzzle in different configs.... The Core, that would be really hard to do though... Because its massive. Plus the surface... Hopefully one day you guys can pull it off... if not then a community mapper?

lol, do you really think one of the 'community mappers,' of whom I think Canadiens is the only one, Can make a map this phenominally difficult, that requires the largest staic ever made for a bf game, by theirself....

If they could do that properly by them selves, that person would have definately found their way onto the team by now.

You don't have to make the whole deathstar.

If you made the end of the tunnels a death zone, then people couldn't get out.
