Topic: Stopping in space

What's the SW prerogative for stopping in space? If you watch the films, the fighters never stop moving. However, X-Wing sims and a lot of books show evidence for stopping.

However, it could make the game a bit unrealistic, allowing people to stop, for example, outside an enemy hangar, shooting anything that flies out. A better gameplay mechanic, i think, would to set a minimum speed higher than zero.

Re: Stopping in space

Why not, all you have to do is brake, and presto, you've stopped.

Re: Stopping in space

they could always try and make it so if you stop you turn slower but you gotta think if you do stop you are just a sitting duck and would be easyly been shoot down by a craft coming from behind or any turrets in the area

Re: Stopping in space

You are a sitting duck, a TIE is down in 1 shot andan X0Wing in 3 big_smile (lore-wise)

Re: Stopping in space

Fake physics are a lot more fun than real space physics.  Please make the space combat fun and not like 3D Asteroids.

I see your point, but you also have to remember that if you're going to be hovering in front of a capital ship's hanger, you're also in front of at least ten turbo laser cannons. I would like to have "real" physics for space, and I don't think people exploiting this will destroy the game play for others. So far, every move has a counter move that I can tell.

Hey, you got your Star Wars in my Star Trek!!

Re: Stopping in space

How can you tell the difference between fake and real if they haven't even put it out for us to see yet?

And besides there is no "real" space physics in relation to starwars anyways.
