Re: Stopping in space

today we can stop things in space, so why not in the SW galaxy? small booster rockets hooked to a computer keeing you in the same spot. perfectly still. and no not in orbit, cause then you would fall down to the planet, be it ever so slowly at first

Re: Stopping in space

i am sure i can remember a section from a star wars film when the attack squads come from hyper space stop and lock s foils into attack positions

so it is my oppinion that fighters should be able to stop but the fighteres ability to turn should be greatly reduced when stopped

but whatever you guys decide to do will rule anyway

Re: Stopping in space

Having your ship turn slower when stopped would certainly fit in with whats been seen in X-Wing and to a lesser extent SWGalaxies. It would probably balance out the gameplay better if that was the case anyway. I wonder if the devs could somehow work in the maneuverability/speed aspect of the x-wing games

ie. ships at 2/3 throttle and 1/3 throttle handle better than ships at full throttle, whilst obviously being at greater risk from the fact they are a slower moving target.

It might produce some interesting dogfights as people develop their prefered tactics. I'm not sure how hard it would be to implement though

Re: Stopping in space

stopped ships make easy targets for enemy fighters smile  We'll solve spawncamping in better ways than nerfing the abilities of ships wink  Unless the engine forces us to I don't think we'll be using newtonian physics though.

Re: Stopping in space

IN space if you turn off your engines you don't stop you keep a contant speed. Unless you start thrusting in the opposite direction. In, REAL space anyways.

In starwars space yo udon't stop either... but it kinda depends how you look at it... I guess...

I think you do stop in SW space. SW ships have a maximum speed, and don't keep going faster. They essentially have the physics of a car.
