Topic: First Rebel Victory

What battle was this? It was before episode IV and after Episode III and its only mention I saw in the movies was in the beginning text scroll... Is there anymore information on this battle? What it was like, where it was fought, or who did the fighting?

I think it would be a pretty cool objective map for Rebels to steal the plans to the DeathStar.

Re: First Rebel Victory

It seems there are about 3 or battles set before Episode IV, thanks in part to the less than canon, but highly enjoyable, star wars games. At least a couple seem to be victories too roll

'The Rebel Alliance operated an efficient and widespread intelligence network of Bothan spies. Through this network, the Alliance learned of the construction of the Death Star, an extremely powerful space station capable of annihilating planets with its superlaser.

Rebel prisoners aboard the Death Star managed to riot (the Death Star Uprising) and got control of a technical readout while Imperial-turned-Rebel Kyle Katarn retrieved further plans (the Battle of Danuta) and a the main set retrieved during the Battle of Toprawa. From there they beamed it to Leia's ship, the Tantive IV, while the 501st Legion, under Darth Vader, tracked Rebels to Polis Massa, leading to the Battle of Polis Massa; however this was only a set-up for the Empire. Even so, the Rebels, who fought with the defensive upper hand, were crushed. Imperial forces soon discovered the true plot and the Star Destroyer Devastator, under the command of Darth Vader himself, captured the Tantive IV in a space battle above Tatooine, where Leia had been trying to reach. She hoped to enlist the help of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was a fugitive Jedi in hiding on the planet and was watching over the young Luke Skywalker.'

Theres at least two good maps in there I'd guess, if the Devs were inclined to persue them. However, since none of this is was in the movies I doubt we will see any of this for a while, if indeed, at all

Re: First Rebel Victory

The battle (according to the "Han Solo Triolgy III: Rebel Dawn") is Operation Skyhook/Battle of Toprawa. Skyhook was the codename given to the Rebel Alliance's operation to obtain the Death Star plans and ultimately destroy the Imperial battlestation Death Star I.

When the Death Star whereabouts became more well known, the Rebels proceeded with the Mission to Danuta, during which rebel operative Kyle Katarn (who had recently defected from the Empire) was sent to retrieve the plans from a secret Imperial base in the city of Trid. Due to their importance, these plans were transported physically to Princess Leia aboard the diplomatic vessel Tantive IV. Tantive IV would then go on to the planet Toprawa, where it obtained other parts of the plans for the new battle station. In addition to the fragments gathered from Danuta and Toprawa, it seems a third piece of the plans were delievered from a rebel base on Polis Massa.

Toprawa was the site of a suicidal infiltration mission by the Rebel Alliance, aimed at stealing and transmitting the plans to the first Death Star. Led by Bria Tharen, a former lover of Han Solo, the Red Hand Squadron infiltrated the Imperial facility on the surface and took control long enough to transmit the stolen plans to Princess Leia's Corellian Corvette, the Tantive IV. After the transmission was received, the Tantive IV made a hyperspace jump to Tatooine but was followed and captured by the Star Destroyer Devastator in the opening minutes of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Bria Tharen's team held out to complete their mission but were eventually overrun by brute force.

If my memory serves me correctly (It has been several years since I read the book.) The Imperial in desperation crached a world devistator into the transmission tower, cutting off the last seconds on the file transfer. But the rebels had transmitted enough to combine with Kyle katarans plans.

Re: First Rebel Victory

Woah. Stop. The battle of Polis Massa was invented in Battlefront 2, and we all know how good canon that it.

Danuta is older, and was invented for one of the Kyle Katarn games.

Toprawa is the best source, as it is secondary canon (from a book)

Re: First Rebel Victory

Yeah, Toprawa.

Besides, Danuta isn't really so much a battle, as one guy infiltrating an Imperial base while his partner distracts their outer defenses.
