Re: Locked or unlocked vehicles - and "vehicle classes"

If a vehicle is locked when someone on the team the owns it uses, if they abandon it can someone on the other team steal it then?

No.

Okay, so a lot of Rebel pilots were originally Imps: examples are Biggs (defected after the Academy, near Bestine, as said in the deleted scenes), Han Solo was the top TIE pilot (beat Baron Soontir Fel) in his class, Kyle Katarn was the top Stormtrooper in his class, and Tycho Celchu and Derek "Hobbie"Klivian were both also Imperial pilots.

Chewie stole an AT-ST just fine.

As for gameplay reasons, I know some people enjoy being the ruthless Imperials, but also like to control fighters such as the A-Wing. However, if the vehicles aren't locked, stealing them should be difficult. A soldier would have to infiltrate the enemy base, without being killed, get the starfighter or other vehicle, and escape without being killed.

Plus you could get TKed by and imp if they happed to mistake you for a reb flying a A-wing.  I personaly dont think it matters very much because well...its not really that hard to pick up some fight sticks and uhh...fly

Those some people THX mentions above...one of them is me big_smile

Re: Locked or unlocked vehicles - and "vehicle classes"

Its not hard to sneak into a main base, its easier because no one is ever there...  Except the people standing next to the spawns, but its not like those guys can't get picked off easily.

And lore wise, this mod is not about those pilots that were from the imperial academy,  its about the overall battles and everyday soldier/pilots from each side, not the rambo characters who know everything. Even if there were 100 rebel pilots who went to the imperial academy and know how to fly imperial vehicles, the Galactic Civil War was faught by 100x that many people. Its bad for gameplay and it doesnt hold up to lore either.

Re: Locked or unlocked vehicles - and "vehicle classes"

My personal reasons for not locking craft is; if it's not being used by the team that owns it, it should be fair for the other team to steal it.

Besides there are occasions like say the imps take a flag where there is already some rebel craft, the imp craft won't appear with the rebel craft already at the vehicle spawn point. That makes for a really unfair advantage.

Stealing vehicles isn't a real problem as I see it anyway. Actually a great tactic that I use a lot is, throw some C4 on an enemy tank to force the enemy to abandon it, for fear of blowing up, then take the tank and use it against him. So I think the benefits outweigh the cons, but that's just my opinion. smile

I do see what you mean there rybot, but for me its still the other way around. Maybe the ABC would work best. I still dont think all vehicles should be "stealable" though, like the aircraft, or special vehicles like ATATs.
