Yeah?  I'd think that having to use the available code and restrictions would be incredibly close to a re-skin.  It's even been mentioned that the same general classes will be used.  It seems to me that although you're building this mod from the ground up, the product would (and should) turn out to be a sort of tweaked re-skin of the original game.  Don't you think?

I dont know how much you know of modding or coding but people can do great, original things by tweaking, merging and breaking up existing code, it all depends on the creativity of the person and the ability to think outside of the box.....something you dont seem capable of grasping, with all due respect.
Restrictions , as in hard coded elements , like map sizes etc was what i was refering to. We have never said , officially, what our class structure would be. I can say tho , that it wont be a straight swap of classes from bf2142. In fact , as our class structure stands now, you may ,at first, be a little perplexed...but after a while of playing , it should become clear to you why we have it setup as we do.
So, in fact I dont agree with you at all..... but i am privy to inside info wink

I've just now thought of another sort of mini-query regarding the classes...

I suppose it makes sense to start by asking if it's possible for you folks to add another class to the already-existing list of...what is it...four?

The reason I ask is fairly simple:  I find that combining the assault and medic classes was a bad move on EA's part, mostly because the assault is, generally, the most capable anti-personnel infantry, and giving him the power to heal and resurrect in addition to his killing capability seems like too much (although, in Battlefield 2, the difference between Medic and Assault didn't seem to be very big in terms of killing capacity;  what's a little bit less armor, anyway?  The difference of only one or two shots...which, I think, is negligible.  Though, I very much preferred the G3 over all other Medic and Assault weapons).

As for their combining of Engineer and Anti-Tank, and the Sniper and Special Forces, those seem acceptable to me.  But this blending of the Medic and the Assault has never sat well with me, and if it's in your power, I think you ought to consider splitting them.

I know nothing on the topic of modding and coding, so I think I can perhaps understand that I'm incapable of understanding that, if you get my meaning.  big_smile

Hrm.  So, this isn't official, yeah?  But, if that's your class structure, it doesn't perplex me.  Though the words "Support" and "Assault" can be subject to interpretation because you state that it's not a "straight swap of classes from bf2142", although to look at that page leads me to believe they almost mirror 2142.  Exceptions, of course, being the presence of a "Recon" but also a "Special," which could mean a couple of things for both those two classes and also the "Support" class.

This page ( http://fsmod.com/us/features.php )  was setup when we 1st decided to move to bf2142. Since then we have decided to do away with the bf2142 methos and create something more original and teamplay orientated.

A mod is an organic entity , ideas come up nearly daily and people coming and going..it'd be near enough impossible for the web disigner (Xerohour) to keep up.... so, we'll just keep the class setup a secret, for now....
