Re: How long will wrecks stay before self-destructing?

safe dont get me wrong i love realism to, but its a shooter where you join to kill people, not to be killed in one shot. plua the whole setting is a bit old, i got bf2 so why play somethign that looks exactly the same, only you die faster.

Holmes i was talking about normal verhicles. a average map round will be between 15 and 45 min, depending on the team. 3 times the current time is more then enof wont you say?

ofcorse special verhicle like a ATAT or a falcon should take much longer to respawn, but i dont think minutes will so great.

what maps do 80+% of the people play? small maps where you get to the action fast.
if you have a large map, like hoth can only become people dont like to wait minutes to get a ride on a walker just because some noob wrecked it right outside the base.
these maps, where you either have to walk/drive or wait long for something are maps rarely found in map rotations.

im not saying i enjoy playing on these servers, in fact i love maps like kubra, zatar, cleansweep. but we must face the fact that without these 80+% of the people that would play the mod, the mod would have to smal a player base to continu living in the communitie.

dont go saying, yea but what about PR? wel just name me 10 good mods out there today that arent in testing tages

Re: How long will wrecks stay before self-destructing?

Ok, how about a compromise:

-Wrecks are persistent, bnut not permanent (last for 5-10 minutes, depending on map. larger maps would have longer wreck times).
-They can be destroyed. A wreck has the same health of its original vehicle, so a tank wreck will be harder to remove than a jeep wreck.
-They don't affect respawn times.

How long will wrecks stay on the battlefield in Battlefield 2142? In Project Reality, they stayed for several minutes, which greatly added to game-play without causing nearly the amount of lag one would expect.

As a "side question", how many "scars of war" will there be in the FS maps? GC's maps always looked so "perfect", with few wrecks, ruins or craters whatsoever.

Wrecks stay on the battlefield in bf2142 the same amount of time that they do in bf2.

We aim to have the maps be as immersive as possible...whether that be thro sound triggers , ambience or visuals.

GC is irrelevant.

Long wreck times sound good imo.

Re: How long will wrecks stay before self-destructing?

yeah, sounds good.

A battlefield like with tanks and that sort of vehicles, that stay as wrecks after they have been destroyed would add some extra gameplay. Infantry or vehicles can hide behind the wreck, or lay down an ambush.
In space, it would be cool if the wrecks of fighters become weightless, so they actually 'hover' through space. I think this will create more exciting fights, because you have to think about the fighter(s) behind you, but also about the various objects that 'hover' in space.

Ofcourse, the wrecks should disappear after like 5 minutes. This will prevent lag and a huge amount of wrecks that will ruin the playfield

Re: How long will wrecks stay before self-destructing?

Random idea- is it possible to make destructible buildings, by using a giant model for a turret. When it's destroyed, the wreck can be a destroyed-building shape (that maybe falls across a road), changing the map.
