OK, so Project Reality ,5 (at http://www.realitymod.com/) implements damage to vehicle parts [emphasis mine]:

-Vehicle Damage System
Another major feature included in PRv0.5 is our revolutionary new Vehicle Damage System, which has been implemented on almost all vehicles currently available in PR. This new system affects vehicle mobility and/or operational status once they become damaged. If you are in a tank and take damage from an anti-tank round, you may loose the ability to rotate your main turret or one of your tracks may become damaged rendering you immobile. This new system is not limited to just ground forces, as aircraft (including helicopters) are just as vulnerable!

I need to re-install this mod, it's just getting better and better. As someone else said, this is the Battlefield 2 version of Forgotten Hope cool .

Either way, is there any chance First Strike might implement this? Take a serious hit from AA fire in your TIE Bomber, and suddenly your lasers stop working until you receive repairs. If it can be implemented so that the part hit is the one that risks failure, it'd be even better. It'd allow me to take down a pesky B-Wing by shorting out a few of its little engines, leaving it with only repulsorlifts (the "Harrier-style hover engine", if fighters in FS will have them).

this you could intergrate, like in the Star Wars movie, like on X-wings where a stabaliser locks up. Maybe reducing it monuverability as well big_smile

I'd like to see a well placed shot on a tank damage its repulsorlifts (or legs in the case of Imps) making it unable to walk straight.

I'd love to see a hover tank get hit and slam into the ground from loss of repulsorlifts, rendering it immobile. It'd make for a nice cinematic moment.

This could allow you to sabotage viecles that belong to the enemy as well?

Without wanting to give away alot, we actually were able to implement (or more accuratly GD did) quite a few months back, the ability for instance to destroy a wing off a tie fighter and have it go spinning around etc

so destroyable child objects that effect performance we have been contemplating for some time.

but we shall see when the first release rolls around, as to exactly what features make it in and what don't smile

yep, even if this stuff doesnt make it to 1st release we will be able to add it later...if we choose to.
