Topic: X-Wing, TIE Fighter and XvT

I got a couple questions about these games. I've played them all back when they were on floppies.

1. I want to buy all of them and play them again but I'm a werid guy and only want new, sealed stuff. I just don't trust people. I found 1 or 2 copies for sell brand new for like $45. I hear there is a rumor that they are re-releasing all of them again soon. Can someone tell me if this is true?

2. Can these games work on Windows XP?

3. Is X-Wing Trilogy the full package of all 3 games? Is anything changed in the games with this special release?

I can't decide what to get. Get all three games individual, get the X-Wing Collector's Series (XW, TF and XW V TF) or get X-Wing Trilogy (XW, TF and XW Alliance).

1. Yes it is true. But no worries, it's a rerelease of the Collector's Series CDs, which include all the expansions, etc. But you can get them (the Collector's CDs, that is) individually for like $5 each at most places.
2. Yes, but it takes a patch and a program called VDMS (which also lets you play Dark Forces and a host of great old games). PM me for more details.
3. The "Trilogy" package altered the graphics of the old games, and changed the soundtracks (in other words, it really, really sucks!). It includes altered versions of X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance, and ignores XvT.

So, my suggestion is try and find the individual "Collector's CD-ROMS" of the games, and PM me for info on how to make them work on XP.

Well there is that pack (forgot the name) but it only got the most newer games in it, for the rest I dunno.

I just saw X-Wing Alliance Collectors in a charity shop for £1. Pity I own it, really.

TIE Fighter is the best of the lot anyway.

Agreed. I think I'll rebuy it when they re-release it. (since my copy has been lost for about 3 years)

Right but does anyone know when they are gonna re-release them? Plus, I don't want to buy any new ones if they changed anything. Rather have the original.
