The boarding situation will be determined by what has the best gameplay.

Re: Boarding capships. Yes or No?

Well as for lore if there never was any boarding how would the Rebels get all those Imperieal Nebulon B's, Stardestroyers, Superstardestroyer (the Guardian) and stuff.

Re: Boarding capships. Yes or No?

Welll I believe in one of the books I read after the rebellion became the New Republic, they would sometime specifically disable a ship for the sole purpose of capture after forcing the crews surrender, or after the crew abandoned ship, then make any neccesary repairs to get it into running condition.

Yes, that means that rather then making maps where you just CAN capture ships, there should be a map where it's the main objective.

Re: Boarding capships. Yes or No?

I'm for boarding by marines (note that when I say "marine", I mean anyone who boards ships. Could be special forces, regular stormtroopers, what-have-you), but not by pilots. Pilots should either spawn into fighters and not be able to eject from them, or they should be unarmed (in which case, when your ship is boarded, you need protection from marines. No big deal).

Marines, in turn, should be unable to enter fighters and rely on cap ships and transports (Stormtrooper transports et al) for deployment. I don't know how many weapons they'd have, but I'm fine with only two or three classes, including a Combat Medic. The other two could be a Trooper and a Support unit with a heavy weapon and special grenades or something. Surprise me tongue .

I don't know if ships could be takeable, though, but I think it's best if they can't be, maybe except from the "light cap ships" such as Corvettes. Captured frigates and cruisers would unbalance the game, I feel.

As for going aboard ships on sabotage action, I don't like the idea. There's something Hollywood-like about destroying reactors and whatever inside ships. It just doesn't feel right somehow.

In star wars, cap ships are destroyed from the outside, they are never boarded except for the tractor beam capturing done with star destroyers.

Perhaps not in the movies, but of course ships were boarded. Others yet would surrender and then be captured. Yet others would be "liberated" upon the taking of shipyards, dry docks, space stations, etc.

Re: Boarding capships. Yes or No?

If your not boarding to destroy the ship or what have you , what would be the purpose of boarding? to spawn kill?
