Topic: Minimal radar system
In my opinion, BF2142 has been spoilt by too many radar devices. We now have rapidly recharging UAVs (twice as fast as BF2), infantry sonar, pulse detector, radar grenades and otus drones. The game is turning into "find the red dots".
I think FS would do much better to avoid all that. It will be balanced well by the fact that lasers are highly visible, while bullets aren't. Instead of following dots, you'll see laser beams/shots and have to guess where they are coming from. This allows people to use trickery, eg, one guy luring in the enemy with a few badly placed shots while another snipes him from behind. Incidentally, I think sniper rifles should be very accurate, at the cost of being highly visible (think Tenloss Disruptor rifle from JK2). So the only thing on your minimap should be your own team and spotted units.
BTW, this for infantry maps. Space maps probably need a radar to allow you to find the enemy fighters, as 3d space is too large otherwise.
If I should die, think only this of me:

There lies a plagiarist.
