no, no parachutes in FS smile

the snowspeeder of Luke crashed, but didn't explode, so he had some time to escape before a foot of an AT-AT smashed the speeder

but other snowspeeder were heavily damaged and flew out of control and exploded when they hit earth

I'd say an "easier" F-35 like repulsor style.
backwards - repulsors up
forwards - sublight
not moving in mid air - slow fall (you go down at a safe speed[you dont take damage when hitting the ground])
EDIT: And yes, no parachutes is good. It adds that tid bit of extra teamplay when transoporting things.

hm.. I'd rather have a slowly accelerating fall with high terminal velocity, and the repulsors have a steep acceleration curve, like having the f35 with the UH's vertical lift on the down button. Come screaming in close, stick your nose up at 15-30 degrees, full power to the repulsors while your LG deploys, softly touching down, hosing the area with 8 lasers. at least thats my almost hallucenogenic vision for the troop carriers.

Well that's not a bad idea, but most vehicals like the Sentinal (spelled correctly?) didn't go in with their nose up. The more I think about it, I think it should be like helicopters.

Maybe the falling accelerates really slowly? so you can fall like 1-20 meters without taking damage but when you try to land from a big distance you crash?
