Topic: The Imperial Escort Carrier

This thing, as I understand it, worked about like reality's carriers do: They stayed out of battle, launching fighters and avoiding combat. Their protection would come from other ships, and from their starfighter complement.

Any chance of this sluggish old bear making its way into First Strike? It'd make for a target it'd be important to defend and crippling to lose, as it'd be the source of your fighters and bombers.

Wooo! A giant spaceborne vacuum cleaner!  You'd have thought that more creative designs would be out there.  If anything I'd vote for us to build something from scratch that semi-resembles a star-destroyer if we are going to something like this smile  I'd prefer to make decent new lore rather than go by really poor second-hand lore made up by someone else non-lucas wink

Technically I believe the X-Wing games were actually made directly by lucas arts themselves...then again I'm pretty drunk right now so I'm in no mood to enter a lore fight.  I remember killing these things in TIE Fighter tho, they sucked to fight against (damn those turbolasers!).  I don't think they fit in with Star Wars as well as some of the other EU vehicles tho, maybe we could do the Interdictor cruiser or some of the other more classic lookin ships.  I wouldn't rule this one out for custom maps...but then again, I wouldn't count on it either.  My EU priorities have yet to include anything larger than the Escort Shuttle right now...but once again, I am pretty drunk so who knows what could happen...

Oh man, I can just see the "Bandu vs. Woody, Escort Carrier EU vs. Movie Lore" battle brewing already wink jk, you guys are awesome

I remember that. I liked Yoshi Boy's attempt at a Stormtrooper Transport, too.

I prefered the Spaceballs design complete with robotic maid tongue .

First of all I really like the design, second of all it's made by LucasArts, and third of all I'm frankly a bit tired of new ships that vaguely resemble a Star Destroyer for some reason. Let the Star Destroyers, Victory Class Star Destroyers and Interdictors have the wedge shape and come up with something new for the other ships. Just my opinion.

Oh, and the Interdictor can't carry anything on board. The hangar bay can't fit as much as a single TIE Tighter. In fact, the only dedicated carrier in all of Star Wars seems to be the Escort Carrier. Every single other ship seems to have at least one other role, which most often seems to be to blow stuff up.

The one i made was similar to that. Altho that 1 looks far more rebel tech than empire. It defo has a rebellion-like hangar
