Topic: BF2142 Punkbuster woes

It's unplayable and I'm not shure why.
Punkbuster rocks.

I have the latest version of BF2142..but everytime I go on a server, it'll run for a few seconds then kick me out and then I have that vague PUNKBUSTER pop-up. It has nothing written on it giving me a reason why I was kicked.

Is this a FS issue? I don't think any FS files are in with vanilla BF2142.

Any help?

Make sure you have the latest version of PB head on over to www.evenbalance.com and install the autoupdating software.

Several of my clan members have had some trouble as well. They are able to connect to a server, but after 10-15 seconds they start getting serious lag up to the point they can't move and get kicked.

For one the solution was to restart their computer, for the other the only option was to reinstall the game.

Remember that when you reinstall the game, you have a option to keep your current profile. Be sure to tick that option, otherwise you will lose all your unlocks, awards and the like.

Are you running Vista? If so try running 2142 as admin.

get the 2 update proggys from punkbusters own site. One restores the backgrounds processes and the other updates the punk definitions, or whatever it is smile

do them, that solved me and my friends problems

I had the same thing happen. I caused the problem by turning off the PB-a and PB-b services. Once I re-enabled these 2 services, the error went away and I was able to play. You may want to look to see if these 2 services are running on your machines.

Updating the .htm's worked.

Now all I have to do is get used to 2142 again and drop the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. habbits.
