Topic: Singleplayer?

Hi, I'm new at this site, and, since rarely do I have internet capabilities on my computer, I'm wondering if there might be a singleplayer patch or something for this mod. Please get back to me on this subject.  Also GREAT JOB LOOKS AWESOME!!!:D

Re: Singleplayer?

I think there might be the possibility of dumbed-down versions of the maps for singleplayer AI, or the mod could outsource the singleplayer into a sub-mod like Galactic Conquest Xtended was.

There are a couple guys from the Battlefield Singleplayer community who are experts on all that crap, so may as well let them have a crack at it.

Hey Canadiens.   Glad to see your still around.

The AI in the new BF games has so much more potentential then we could ever get in GCX.   I am thinking about FS_SP mini-mod.   The mini-mod would include the 64 player coop expanded BF2142 maps created by the BFSP community and replacing the BF2142 vehicles with FS initially.   That could be done quickly.   Then, start working on coop for the space maps, and finally the land maps.

Re: Singleplayer?

We have discussed Single Player, yes - If the community wants to write support for singleplayer and re-release the mod at some later point I'm sure that would be fine ... I often have enjoyed LAN parties with 30 bots running around .. SO with that said I am rooting for Single Player AI to be programmed into the MAPS or a set of MAPS... I may implement SP in my spare time after we get completely done with content ( a little while after beta )
I just thought I would keep your hope alive smile ...

Re: Singleplayer?

I too, would like to see bot support integrated into FS.

The biggest problem with supporting an active mod will be map changes breaking the AI between releases.  With Navmeshing being the most time consuming part of bot support process, we aren't going to want to spend a lot of time doing the navmeshes and then have to redo them every time the maps change in a new release.    I have been thinking of how to keep the bot support intact between releases.

One idea is to create alternate versions of the maps dedicated to bot support.  This will make it easy to modify the maps as needed to enhance bot support and be able to maintain bot support in the mod while work continues on enhancing the multiplayer experience.

The biggest improvement with bots in BF2 and BF2142 is the ability to move through a 3d environment.   Bots can now use multiple levels of buildings and go up and down stairways.    This is done by creating a 3d navigation mesh that guides the bots through the map.
