Topic: Quake Wars Beta

So, who here is playing it?

My first impressions are that this is a VERY good game. It really took the original ET and applied Quake-y goodness to it brilliantly. The map in the beta is pretty small by BF2142 standards, but this really doesn't matter as the game focuses the action so well anyway. Its pulled off the support weapons beautifully, and the way they arc through the sky almost reminds me of Ground Control.

Whoah. Thanks for the heads up, I likely would've missed a chance at a key. Now just to wait for the free keys to be released.

Even without playing it I still say it's 5000000000 times better than 2142 in every way possible.

Nice features (buildin bases etc) ...horrible fighting gameplay( Should be called StrafeWars..

Been playing it now and the novelty worn off.  They made the game with really cool classes and play tactics but after awhile it just ends up being guys hopping arround and moving faster than a cheetah on crack. I mention the speed problem and such but I got flamed by many angry 14 year olds about it. *sigh* getting flashbacks of my netcafe job all over again. Well hopefully they will reduce the speed (at least make moving sideways and backwards slower) and reduce the bunny hopping, if they don't I might not bother with it. I'm a fan of the old Quake games but those games are ment for fast arcade movements while this one isn't.
